While this case is wildly famous it has yet to be solved and is still stumping web sleuths to this very day! On this week's episode I tell Russ the story of the most successful FBI undercover mission in US history... Operation Sun-Apple a.k.a the story of Donnie Brasco! This is such an interesting case because one man went deeper into the Italian mafia than anyone had ever been. It was first time that law enforcement could see and understand the inner workings of the Cosa Nostra. This mission led to the arrest of 230 mafia members and associates and single handily dismantled the Bananno crime family in the early 80's. Russ and I both had mixed feelings about this one. This week I tell Russ all about Lawrence Bittaker and Roy Norris aka The Toolbox Killers. These two men are probably the most evil serial killers in modern American history. On December 13, 2019 which was Friday the 13th.... Lawrence Bittaker was found dead in his death row prison cell, he died at age 79 of natural causes. Bittaker met Norris while in prison in the mid 1970s. The two men realized they had the same evil energy and devised a plan to carry out their most disturbing fantasies. Moral of this story... this case is a terrifying display of how the darkest side of humanity, when given an audience or willing participant, can became a real life nightmare. Since 1971 the remains of 30 young girls and women under the age of 30 have been discovered in a 25 acre patch of land off of I45. This highway connects Houston and Galveston and it has now been named the highway to hell. The area now dubbed "the killing fields" spans multiple counties and jurisdictions causing the law enforcement to completely drop the ball with a lot of the cases. Moral of this story... Rader is an American serial killer who killed 10 people in Wichita Kansas in the 70s and 80s but his reign of terror lasted about 30 years! Denis Rader was a family man, good husband, good father and veteran on the outside but underneath he was as sick and twisted as they come.
