A pair of bills from a veteran state House member concerning the sales of so-called "nip" bottles of alcohol caught the eye of host Paul Pacelli to start Wednesday's "Connecticut Today" (00:49). One bill would attach a ten-cent refundable deposit to every nip bottle sold in the state, while the other bill would completely ban the sale of nips in Connecticut. Southington GOP State Sen. Rob Sampson (15:23) and Hearst Connecticut Media Senior Editor and Columnist Dan Haar (24:58) both chimed in on a growing controversy surrounding a veteran state lawmaker and state funding for a major non-profit agency.
