18-year-old Michelle Martinko was last seen at the Westdale Mall in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on December 19th 1979. She was never seen alive again.

While at Westdale she spoke with friends and was last seen at a jewelry store around 9 pm. Little did her friends know this would be the last time they’d see Michelle alive.
In 2006, a cold case investigator discovered unidentified blood, presumably belonging to the killer, while he was reviewing case files. A DNA profile was developed from evidence and was entered into CODIS, without any luck.
It would be another decade plus before the Martinko family would have answers.
