Who Goes There Podcast: Ep246 – PIG

In 2010, Dread Central and a few other horror sites joined together to stream Pig, the new movie from director Adam Mason. The film was only streamed for a limited time, and if you missed it, too bad. Pig was never officially released, and despite a few over-priced bootlegs popping up at conventions, Pig had essentially vanished. Vanished that is, until 2017. In 2017 director Adam Mason announced that Pig would screen at SXSW for two nights, and then never again; this would be the only public screening of the film. When asked why the film was never released Adam Mason has said everything from he hates the film, to wanting to create that “holy grail” film. You know, the kind of film you only hear about, but can’t find, but your friend’s brother’s classmate’s uncle “totally has a copy”. The important thing is, Mason was always willing to talk about the film, and if asked nicely, would reportedly send you a link. Well, that’s what we did, motherfuckers! That’s right, we watched what is arguably one of the hardest to find horror films ever, and we’re gonna tell you all about it! (Review at 25:55) We’re trying to reach out to Mason to see if we can make the film available for a limited time, thus far we have had no response. You don’t count good, you stupid bitch. But you can count on the Who Goes There Podcast episode 246! If you enjoy the show, please consider joining our Patreon subscribers. Well, ready your lil nerd, you little nerds, because this is the movie for you! Underwater has all of the explosion laced, debris filled, screeching, screaming chaos of a Cloverfield film, but is it one? More importantly, is it good? Most importantly: does TJ Miller fuckin die?! Who Goes There Podcast: Ep244 – THE GRUDGE 2020

Generally, when the horror community hears the word “remake” we all collectively groan and roll our eyes. More often than not, the remake fails to capture what audiences loved about the source material. Every so often, a remake will come along that not only pays homage to an already great film, it carves out it’s own place in cinema history. As of 2020, no one will say that about The Grudge. (Review starts at 24:08)Maybe I’m just pulling your leg. Perhaps this un-promoted, January release, produced by Sam fuckin’ Raimi is an early contender for film of the year. Maybe this is the first time I’ve seen Lynn Shea in a ghost movie. C’mon. We all know why you’re here. When I sleep my spirit slips away from my body and dances naked with The Devil. That’s why we have the Who Goes There Podcast episode 244!If you enjoy the show, please consider joining our Patreon subscribers. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep243 – 2019 Year In Review

We here at the Who Goes There Podcast have spent countless hours researching exactly what is the key to podcasting superstardom. Through our tireless research we have come to the realization that the internet likes lists. It doesn’t matter what kind of list, so long as things are put in a descending or ascending order.Well, folks, we’re nothing if not hip, and with it; we are also very opinionated. With that being said, here is our list of the best and worst films of 2019. I would add the disclaimer that “these are what WE think the best films of the year are”. It’s nice to know I don’t have to do that because we all know that what we think, is correct. Always. If you enjoy the show, please consider joining our Patreon subscribers. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep242 – DEPRAVED

I pride myself on my depravity. In fact, when starting this podcast my goal was to introduce people to the most depraved, fucked up movies I could find. Well, times have changed, and while we may not be covering as many totally disturbing movies, we still love all things morbid. As luck would have it, horror legend Larry Fessenden is keeping my hopes alive by releasing a little film called Depraved. (Review at 37:49) Good ole’ Larry is serving up his modern take on the horror classic Frankenstein. Is Depraved as impactful as its source material? Is it actually depraved? Perhaps it’s nothing more than a misunderstood film that only wants to be loved? We’ll fuckin tell ya what it is! But, you’ve got to download to find out!Laugh it up, wise guy. It won’t be so funny when that little bastard shoves a laser up your ass. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep241 – BLACK CHRISTMAS 2019

Despite being in my late thirties, not having any children, and living in a place that has never seen snow, I still love Christmas! I just love all the twinkling lights, the endless supply of baked goods, and the feeling of togetherness just warms my cold black heart. In the spirit of togetherness, it appears the entire horror community has come together to shit all over the 2019 remake of Black Christmas. We may be fashionably late to the party, but we’re shimmying down your chimney with a big red sack full of thoughts and opinions! (Review starts at 24:24) Sure, it’s sitting there under the tree, hastily wrapped, and falling apart at the seams, but despite the wrapping, this could be the best gift ever. It could also be a lump of coal, that Santa shat on, after eating a bag of sugar free candy. Guess there’s only one way to find out, huh? Don’t put avocado on the burger! Who Goes There Podcast: Ep240 – DANIEL ISN’T REAL

As children our imagination knows no bounds. Some of us create wild stories for our toys to act out, some of us turn to drawing and art to express our creativity, and some of us have imaginary friends. Sometimes an imaginary friend is nothing more than a manifestation of our desires to connect with other people, an attempt to fight against loneliness. However, sometimes that imaginary friend is a troublesome menace who wants to hurt people and act out his perverse desires with our mothers. Ok, that’s enough about Drop Dead Fred, this week we’re talking about Daniel Isn’t Real, the brand new release from Spectrevision. (Review at 45:01)Alia is back, and we’ve got a pretty front heavy episode! We run down a LOT of movies we’ve seen over the last week, we talk about a handful of new trailers and some awesome news for Resident Evil fans! You’ve done a lot for other people this holiday season. Do something nice for yourself. Curl up in front of the fire and listen to four idiots stroke their own…opinions. They thought they could do it without being caught. But when we do something naughty, we are always caught. Then, we are punished. Punishment is absolute, punishment is good. So is the Who Goes There Podcast episode 240!If you enjoy the show, please consider joining our Patreon subscribers. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep239 – DEADLY GAMES

Ladies and germs, Christmas has come early! The wonderful people of France teamed up with the folks over at Shudder to bring us an amazing gift that we didn’t know we wanted! Have you ever been watching Home Alone and thought to yourself, “yeah, it’s good, but it could definitely be more French, and where are all the mullets”?Buckle. The. Fuck. Up. This week we’re fuckin blessed to be covering 1982’s Deadly Games (a.k.a. Game Over, Hide and Freak, 3615 Code Pere Noel, Dial Code Santa Claus etc). (Review at 21:27) Guys, for real, this movie is fuckin bonkers! Just look at the photo below. I’ve seen the movie and even I have no idea what is going on right there. This film so god damn zany that for many years, the entirety of the United States was like, “that’s a nah from me, dawg” and the movie wasn’t available here until 2018! Seriously, I know I don’t say this much, but seriously, go watch this movie before listening to the show!We know some of you won’t be happy no matter how hard we try. In an attempt to win you over, we’re also letting you know a really stupid way you can spend $6500. Rhett tries to talk about Frozen 2 way too many times for it to be a joke. Jorge hates everything. It’s just another day in paradise, fuckos. We’re trapped in closet on Christmas with Santa trying to murder us. How fucked up is that? Who Goes There Podcast: Ep238 – THE GALLOWS: ACT 2

A few years ago we were invited to our first ever screening at San Diego Comic Con, and needless to say we were totes stoked. The episode following that screening has gone down in the annals of Who Goes There history as one of our most insane episodes ever. The movie we saw that fateful night, was The Gallows. The amount of anger present in that episode was so strong the term “Gallows mad” was coined. Now it’s about 5 years later and there is a sequel underthe incredibly original name The Gallows: Act 2. (Review at 23:05) Our boy Charlie is back hanging out in high school drama clubs and fucking with people’s Youtube videos, and that’s just the start. Does the sequel deserve a standing ovation, or does it break a leg, and shit the bed? More importantly, do we get “Gallows mad”? Tune in to find out, fuckerrrrrrrrrrr! From left to right: Ema Horvath, Travis Cluff Oh, why don’t you go find a wall socket and stick your tongue in it. That’ll give you a charge. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep 237 – BLISS

Did y’all ever watch a movie called Prayer of the Rollerboys? It’s this early 90’s gem starring Corey Haim about a gang of rollerbladers who wear trenchcoats and peddle this weird drug called “mist”. This week’s film has nothing to do with that movie, except both introduced us to fun new drugs! In fact, this week’s film teaches us that the best way to deal with a creative block is to do lots of drugs and have sex with everyone you meet! That’s right, dorks; this week we will be discussing Bliss, (review at 34:06) the new film (and drug) created by Joe Begos, the mind behind Almost Human, The Mind’s Eye, and the forthcoming V.F.W.. If you’re familiar with Joe’s work you know you can expect lots of pretty imagery, lots of trippy visuals, lots of blood, and I can assure you, there are more than a couple of sweater kittens. Perhaps you need something more to float your boat? What if I told you that this movie stars our bae, Jeremy Gardner. Yeah, Jeremy Gardner from The Battery.Oh, did I mention Alia is here?! She’ll be briefly running down her opinions on the episodes she’s missed, then we’ll talk about a whole bunch of other stuff that ultimately means nothing in the blink of an eye that is human existence. Hey, I think I’m starting to get pretty good at this existential dread thing. They call me Dick, but you can call me… Dick. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep236 – DR SLEEP

Hello, dear listeners. Welcome again to yet another devilishly delightful episode of the Who Goes There Podcast. We apologize for the lack of an episode last week; things have been absolutely chaotic here at Camp WGT.Fear not, my young dorks; we are heading to the Overlook Hotel, and we’re packing an extra long episode of the show! This week we’re talking about Dr. Sleep, (review at 46:50) the 39-years-after-the-fact sequel to the horror classic The Shining. We’re going to be running down all of the news we’ve missed including news on Ghostbusters, Uber Jason, and denying fish their god given reproductive rights! I’m not gonna hurt ya. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep 235 – THE LIGHTHOUSE

For months now, the horror community has been abuzz about The Lighthouse. (Review at 36:34) The sophomore effort from Robert Eggers (director of The Witch) stars Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson, and it has a lighthouse; not much else is known. The trailers for The Lighthouse didn’t do much to show what the film is actually about, leaving most viewers heading into their viewings without any clue what they were in for.Fear not, my little nerds, for we are here to be your light in the darkness and guide you safely through these turbulent waters. Hark as we bellow out our opinions, not just to hear ourselves talk, but to lead you to cinematic safety. Was one of the most highly anticipated films of the year smooth sailing or were our hopes dashed upon the jagged rocks of disappointment? Come find out.Just concentrate on how good it feels to be causing someone pain. That’s the best thing you can do for a true masochist! Who Goes There Podcast: Ep 234 – ZOMBIELAND 2: DOUBLE TAP

I don’t fully understand why, but Hollywood has this massive hard-on for releasing sequels to comedies 10 years after the original is released. With the exception of Super Troopers 2 they have all been absolute garbage. Anchorman, Zoolander, Bad Santa, if you loved a comedy in the late ’00’s chances are there’s a terrible sequel that recently came out. It seems to only make sense that one of the most successful zombie films ever should get the unnecessary sequel treatment. This brings us to present day and the release of Zombieland 2: Double Tap. (Review starts at 24:00) Get it? Double Tap? It’s like, one of his rules, but also like a pun, because it’s a sequel, double, two, same. Yeah, it’s basically more of that stuff. It’s all good though, now Rosario Dawson is in the movie, so there’s that. With endless love, we left you sleeping. Now we’re sleeping with you. Don’t wake up. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep233 – LITTLE MONSTERS

This week is the saddest week of the entire year; it’s the week after the Telluride Horror Show. We had a blast hanging out with old friends, new friends, and some friends we met for the first time. Oh, yeah. We also watched a ton of horror movies. Fear not, little nerds, I’m going to run down the stand out films at the 10th anniversary of the Telluride Horror Show. Now I know you’re bursting at the seams with excitement to hear my recap, but we’re also doing a movie review! Last week Hulu quietly released a little horror film about a group of kindergartners in the zombie apocalypse. For this reason alone we couldn’t pass up Little Monsters. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep232 – JOKER

Sah, dudes! I’m posting this episode from the Telluride Horror Show tenth anniversary! I know I say this all the time but this is absolutely my favorite weekend of the year. There’s just something so special about getting together with a bunch of like-minded dorks, in the middle of nowhere to watch hours and hours of horror films!Although I may be having a blast out here there is work that must be done! On that note, we recently sat down to discuss the film everyone is buzzing about: Joker! (Review starts at 22:00)I would sit here and try to write clever things or run down what else we discuss on this episode, but I’m not going to. I have about 30 minutes to get this episode up, get a bite to eat and make it to the screening of 1BR.He looks likes something that fell off my dick during the war. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep 231 – THIRTEEN GHOSTS

It’s finally October! The one time of year all of us misfits are able to be ourselves and everyone thinks we’re just in the holiday spirit. Speaking of spirits, this week we decided to take a trip down memory lane and head all the way back to 2001 to reexamine Thirteen Ghosts. (Review at 25:24)When talking to people about Thirteen Ghosts everyone seems to remember it fondly. However, no one seems to recall having seen the movie in “a really long time”. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep 230 – HELL HOUSE LLC III: LAKE OF FIRE

Guess who’s back in the mother fuckin’ house, Hell House, that is! After what seems like an eternity, the time has come to shut the doors on the Hell House franchise with Hell House LLC III: Lake of Fire! (Review at 42:33)Four years ago, we checked into the Abaddon Hotel and were treated to one of the most enjoyable and unnerving cinematic experiences in recent memory. I’ll admit the sequel was every bit as good as a Motel 6 continental breakfast. But we were promised the finale to the trilogy would hands down be the crown jewel of the franchise. In the studio this week is horror author and Patreon haomie Brian Asman. Together, we will let you know if you should check into Hell House LLC III: Lake of Fire. Or maybe you just should keep heading down the road until you get to Motel Hell.In addition to our normal hilarious hijinks, we still can’t stop talking about The Fanatic! (Full review available exclusively on Patreon.) We’ll also give you our thoughts on the first episode of American Horror Story: 1984, Intruder, Fede Alvarez taking the helm of Texas Chainsaw MassacreHere comes fucking Parker, walking down nine miles, swinging the God damn head by the hair in one hand and his sandwich in the other. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep 229 – FREAKS & TIGERS ARE NOT AFRAID

Howdy, y’all! I apologize for the episode being late this week; I aggravated an old back injury and have been dealing with quite a bit of pain. Fear not, my little junkies. We’re here with another dose of hilarious horror hijinks for ya!This week we’ve got a double dose of dude-bro delights as we discuss 2019’s Freaks (Review at 9:14) and 2017/2018/2019’s Tigers Are Not Afraid (Review at 30:27). Y’all know during this time of year we LOVE to feature movies from the Telluride Horror Show (October 11-13) and Tigers Are Not Afriad was Alia’s stand out film from THS 2018!This week we skip news and get right into the meat and potatoes of the show! You’ll still hear our thoughts on a few of the movies we watched this week, and a lot of stupid, stupid jokes. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep 228 – IT CHAPTER 2

A few days ago I was driving home and listening to an old episode of the show; it was the Killing Ground episode from 2017. In the pre-show banter for the episode we talked about how we would have to wait two years for the final season of Game of Thrones and the sequel to It Chapter One.The reason I bring this up is because we all know how well the final season of Game of Thrones turned out. Now here we are, two years later and It Chapter Two is fresh in theaters. Will It Chapter Two be the sequel that Chapter One deserved, and we all needed? Or will we all be left shaking our fists at the sky and cursing whatever “God” would do this to us?!We also talk about some other movies, and we talk about some goings-on in the horror community…ummmm we probably insult each other and make dirty jokes too. So that’s fun.I leave for five minutes, and when I come back everyone’s a fucking alien. Now, if I have to Men In Black your ass, you’re gonna fucking take it! We had totally prepared to review The Fanatic this week, but then we decided that this film is something that is so magical, that we only want to share it with Patreon. The decision to make this cinematic masterpiece and Patreon only pick left us with a hole in our calendar, a hole that we decided to fill with a movie that itself was going to be a Patreon exclusive. This week, we’ll be reviewing 2009’s Laid To Rest (review starts at 25:34). Do you like tits, blood and gore? Because this movie is full of it! Just have a look at the bad ass image below. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep226 – READY OR NOT

Congratulations, everyone; fall is finally here! It’s that time of year when everyone starts to post memes about how much they love pumpkin spice, or how basic you are for liking pumpkin spice. In addition to overpriced sugary beverages and and spoopy decorations, it’s horror movie season! What better way is there to kick off the most wonderful time of the year than to review the last horror film of this hot, hot summer: Ready Or Not? (Review starts at 32:50)Oh, silly me. Did I forget to mention that Alia is back?! For the first time since her accident Alia is on the show to discuss one of the most talked about films of the year. We also talk about nuns with guns, cheesy 90’s werewolves, shark fighting and so much more!Mirrors are not but tools of vanity, Patricia – I know! Vanity – sensuality, Patricia! Who Goes There Podcast: Ep 225 – SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK

At some point we’ve all heard someone say only two things in life are guaranteed: death, and taxes. Well, dorks, I’m here to inform you of a third certainty. It is a damn near certainty that as you get older the things you loved as a child will be dug up and repackaged for a younger audience. He-man, Big Trouble in Little China, Pogs, rollerblades, all of these things that I would obsess over as a ten year old, are now being released 25+ years later. For this reason it should come as no surprise that the Hollywood greed machine has come for Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark. (Review starts at 26:56) Perhaps listening to three entitled assholes talking about a film adaptation of a book anthology from 30 years ago isn’t your thing. It’s also quite possible that you happen to love the sultry sound of our voices. If you find yourself experiencing both of these feels fear not, for there is more in store! Matt updates everyone on Alia’s condition following her motorcycle accident and surgery, Rhett discusses the existential dread he experiences daily, Jorge talks about how much he loves guns, and we all run down the movies we’ve seen lately. Huzzah! Stoning people who piss you off is perfectly okay. They do it in the Bible, don’t they? And I got lots of peas! I’ve also got the Who Goes There Podcast episode 225! Who Goes There Podcast Classic: THE MIST

This passed Tuesday my wife and occasional co-host Alia was in a very bad motorcycle accident and sustained some major injuries. In addition to some severe road rash Alia’s jaw was broken in two places and she broke a few teeth. Needless to say we were unable to record a new episode this week.Rather than not release anything we decided to post one of our favorite episodes from the past. A Who Goes There classic, if you will. We’ll be back on schedule this Friday with our Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark episode. If you would like to contribute to the GoFundMe page to help cover Alia’s medical and dental bills, you can contribute here. We appreciate all of the support we’ve gotten from all of you. We have a long road ahead of us, it’s nice knowing we don’t have to go alone. Thank you.I’m not going to post a silly quote from a movie this week. I’m just going to use this space to once again say thank you. So, thank you.If you enjoy the show, please consider joining our Patreon subscribers. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep 224 – PERFECT BLUE

Konichiwa, dorks! As you may have noticed, we’re trying to do the occasional “throwback episode” in an attempt to keep things fresh around here. That, combined with the fact that in the past we’ve only talked about two anime films (Vampire Hunter D, and Castlevania), we decided what better time than now to cover another one. We’re hopping in the way back machine all the way to 1997 to cover Satoshi Kons directorial debut: Perfect Blue. (Review starts at 30:46) We also discuss the latest horror news, some films we’ve seen in the last week, and TWO video games! (Cultist Simulator, and The Witches House) So, you know, like, download and listen. Because this shit, this is the good shit.Let me ask you something. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep 223 – NIGHT OF THE VIRGIN

Yo, do not miss this episode! We’d heard a lot about 2016’s horror/dark comedy Night of the Virgin, “it’s fucked up!”, “it’s so gory!”, “a must watch!” Well, we all know how everyone is wrong except for us, so we decided to check it out for ourselves. (Review starts at 32:20) This episode gets just as bat-shit crazy as the movie does. In fact, there’s about 30 minutes of insanity that we had to cut out, but luckily you can check it out if you sign up for our Patreon! As always, we’re running down the latest horror news including something really cool about Killer Klowns From Outer Space, and a new film interpretation of Tomie! If that’s not enough to tickle your pickle, we also give our thoughts on Stranger Things season 3, Tone Deaf, Deadtectives, Clarita and Once Upon a Time In Hollywood. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep 222 – LUZ

Hola, dorks, and welcome to another episode of the Who Goes There Podcast! Comic Con 2019 has finally come and gone, and we’ve all become a little more bitter and cynical. This week we’re discussing 2019’s Luz, a paranormal, demon, mind fucky film. (Review starts at 32:18)This film mostly flew under our radars until it was released in mid-July, and since there are no major studio films being released this week, here we are. We’ll also be running down some of the cool shit from Comic Con, as well as the movies we’ve seen recently. (Including: The Thing: Confessions of a Teenage Placenta, Island of the Fishmen, and Dead Sight. They call me Dick, but you can call me… Dick. It’s the Who Goes There Podcast episode 222! Who Goes There Podcast: Ep 221 – CRAWL

Ahoy there, dorks! Welcome to another episode of Semi-Professional Podcast Reviewer Theater! We may not be the only podcast full of braindead bros who don’t know shit about movies and add nothing to the discussion, but we’re the only one on Dread Central! This week, we’re heading down to Florida to chill with some gators and laugh about how idiots are getting eaten. No, we’re not talking about beefy boys on bath salts, we’re talking about 2019’s Crawl. (Review at 23:48) If that’s not enough to tickle your fancy, we’re also running down the biggest news events of the last week! That’s not all! If you act now you’ll also get, us making lots of crude jokes, us laughing too hard at those jokes. All while inflating our fragile egos and not actually contributing anything of any value to the discussion of this film, or cinema in general. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep 220 – MIDSOMMAR

Rejoice, ya dorks, for summer is finally here! The time has come for rockets red glare, summer loving, bonfires and bar-b-ques. Just like every hot dog is bound to split its bun, every A24 film is bound to split the horror community. Well, it is my job to inform you, the split has happened again. The latest release from “elevated horror” juggernaut A24 is Midsommar, Ari Aster’s follow up to 2018’s Hereditary. (Review starts at 30:11) As you would imagine, the highly anticipated release has the horror community split right down the center, and the Who Goes There Podcast is no exception. This week we’re joined by Patreon haomie, and author of I’m Not Even Supposed to Be Here Today Brian Asman to dissect this film like a big ole’ grizzly bear! Is Midsommar the atmospheric nightmare it claims to be, or is it just a holiday in the sun?Who loved it? Did anyone hate it? What are the odds that Matt didn’t understand what went on? Who Goes There Podcast: Ep219 – ARACHNOPHOBIA

Are you aware of the fact that there are a group of people out there who are afraid of pasta?! Yessir, the fear of pasta is a completely real thing and it’s called Zymarikaphobia. I know what you’re thinking, and I completely agree with you, it’s stupid. You know what fear is not stupid? The fear of spiders is not stupid. As a matter of fact, the fear of spiders is so incredibly not stupid that Hollywood made a movie about it!This week on the Who Goes There Podcast we will wax poetic about 1990’s Arachnophobia, the story of one spider’s travels from the the jungles of Venezuela to the middle of nowhere America. (Review starts at 22:56) In addition, we run down some of the other movies we’ve seen this week including Flesh Blanket, Winterskin and Dead Don’t Die. Do you want to hear us talk about the ways we used to get faded at school? We do that too; it’s hella tight. You’re lying. It didn’t die. You took it. You’re lying. You witches! You’re lying! Who Goes There Podcast: Ep. 218 – CHILD’S PLAY

Alright everyone, let’s be honest with ourselves here for just a second. Most of us hate the fact that a good amount of the “new” movies released every year, are remakes. Furthermore, most of us are really stoked that the majority of these remakes are hot garbage. Even further still, most of us took to the internet with a fervent anger when we heard that a Child’s Play reboot was in the works.Yes. A lot of the anger came from the sensitive group of “qUiT rApInG mY cHildHoOd, LeAvE mY fAvOrItE mOvIe AlOnE!” fanboys we’ve learned to expect and ignore. However, the new Child’s Play remake is a different beast entirely. This particular remake is being made with a reimagined antagonist, without the now iconic voice of Chucky (Brad Dourif), and is being made at the same time as a Child’s Play TV show that DOES have OG Chucky, voiced by Brad Dourif! Wowie Zowie!Fear not, lil’ dorks! Your buddies at the Who Goes There Podcast are hear to open up 2019’s Child’s Play to “see what we’re working with.” (Review starts at 25:44)I’ve got a few heartbeats I’d like to save, thank you very much. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep217 – EVENT HORIZON

Here at the Who Goes There Podcast we pride ourselves on being 100% honest and genuine in our reviews, and sometimes that rubs people the wrong way. Thankfully it has been a while since we’ve really pissed anyone off, and well, that just isn’t going to cut it. We’re going to (try to) start doing regularly scheduled “throwback” episodes, where we look into films released prior to 2000; this is the first of those episodes. We’ll be going balls deep into the cult classic/fan favorite/Kurt Russell approved Event Horizon. (Review starts at 25:43) This is destined to be one of the most divisive episodes in WGT history. Now I have another reason to hate Christmas. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep216 – BLACK MIRROR SEASON 5

It’s an undeniable fact that technology has infiltrated every single aspect of our lives. In a day and age where our refrigerators and dishwashers have wifi it’s virtually impossible to escape the cold, metallic clutches of technology. For this reason, Netflix’s Black Mirror has become one of the most creative and original franchises in quite some time. Now, we find ourselves staring down the release of the highly anticipated fifth season of the tumultuous technological terror. We’re going to exploring the bits and bytes of the three new episodes. (Review starts at 35:33) As always we run down the latest in horror news and give our opinions on a handful of films including: Bloody Bloody Bible Camp, The Odds, and Some Guy Who Kills People. There’s a bunch of kids over there in the cemetery… I know what they’re doing in there. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep215 – MA

Ahoy there, dorks! We’re back up in that ass with the resurrection! That’s just our fancy way of saying we’re back with another episode of hilarious horror hijinks…for your ass. This episode is pretty front loaded, so if you want to skip right to our thoughts on tonight’s film, skip to the 46:00 mark. All of us here at Who Goes There are getting pretty tired of hearing the name “Blumhouse” before every cinematic horror release. When you hear “Blumhouse” you get a very clear idea of what type of film you’re about to see. Much like with Troma, and Full Moon, Blumhouse definitely has a “type” when it comes to the films they release. This week, we’ll be discussing 2019’s Ma to see if it’s as wild as a high school kegger, or if it’s “just another Blumhouse film.” In addition to Ma we also give our thoughts on quite a few new releases, including Recovery, The Cleaning Lady, and The Silence. We’ve also got a heaping helping of horror news for ya; there was a lot to discuss this week. It’s the Who Goes There Podcast episode 215 and it …probably contain more than 100,000,000,000 birds! Who Goes There Podcast: Ep214 – BRIGHTBURN

Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s… finally the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I don’t know about you, but I have had it up to my tits with all of the superhero movies being shoved down our throats. For the last twelve years almost every film has been: weak villain attacks, fly, punch, celebrate, repeat. However, unlike zombies, the superhero genre has several ways of keeping itself feel fresh and interesting. You may be asking yourself, “but how can superhero movies keep from feeling stale?”. To which I reply, “calm down, I’ll tell you! Have you learned nothing of how this works?” Superhero films can stay relevant by changing up the formula on occasion. For example they can make the super being a child, or make it a villain story, or in the case of Brightburn, you can do both! (Review starts at 21:30)If that wasn’t enough to tickle your pickle, we also discuss our advance directives and how easily Alia could murder Matt. Rhett forgets this is a horror podcast again, Alia tries to relate everything to getting freaky, Jorge can’t even, it’s just another day at the Who Goes There Podcast.Look to la luna; it’s the Who Goes There Podcast episode 214!If you enjoy the show, please consider joining our Patreon subscribers. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep213 – EXTREMELY WICKED, SHOCKINGLY EVIL AND VILE

For some reason, these days, everyone and their mom is a fan of serial killers and true crime. True crime podcasts are currently among the most successful shows available, even if they’re more known for their terrible jokes than their educational values. What lies deep inside of us that sparks this fascination for brutal murderers who commit unspeakable acts? Guess what. You won’t find the answer to that here, because we’re better known for our terrible jokes than anything actually informative. We did however pull out our big fat opinions for the new Ted Bundy love letter, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil & Vile. (Review starts at 28:50)If this wasn’t enough for you we also talk a little bit about the new show Chernobyl. There’s also some more talk of remakes and other horror news for your earholes.A stupid witch who answers back, must BURN till her bones are black! Who Goes There Podcast: Ep212 – BLACK SUMMER

Let’s be honest, shall we? The majority of us now roll our eyes at the announcement of any new zombie movie or show. The Walking Dead has been shambling on for far too long, and has been dragging the corpse of interesting zombie media with it. As summer draws ever closer, Netflix is hoping that the spring rains will have washed away the years of shitty-zombie-stink and has brought us Black Summer. (Review starts at 27:50) Did Netflix bite off more than it can chew with its ambitious zombie series? Will the scorching summer sun intensify the stench on the corpse of a once beloved sub-genre? Or will the dead rise once again to reclaim their spot at the top of the horror heap? Let’s find out!You killed my daddy, you maniacal, media-manipulated, homicidal, hermaphrodite freak of nature! Who Goes There Podcast: Ep211 – THE CURSE OF LA LLORONA

Happy Cinco de Mayo, pendejos! This is the one time of the year that Jorge reminds us all that he IS in fact Mexican. We’re throwing our kids in the creek and getting stupid as fuck with the newest jump scare extravaganza. Join us, as we cook Trader Joes carne asada, drink craft beer designed to look like Tecate, and listen to Mexican ska. Oh yeah, we’re also going to talk about The Curse of La Llorona. (Review starts at 30:55) I normally go through an agonizing process of trying to find something fun, informative, or interesting to write here; not today. I’m on vacation in Belgium right now and have been trying to post this for two days. So in order to meet the required word count I’m just telling you this. This right here. Yup, all these things that I’m saying now are for the word count. Will anyone read it? Probably not, just don’t tell Barkan. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep210 – THE HEAD HUNTER

Every year, Matt and Alia come back from the Telluride Horror Show and there always seems to be one movie they absolutely rave about. Some movies, like 2018’s Aterrados, absolutely live up to the hype, while some like 2015’s They Look Like People do not. Here we are again. Another year has passed, another film fest has come and gone, and this year the adorable duo were singing the The Head Hunter‘s praises from those snowy Telluride mountaintops. (Review starts at 24:42) In fact, Matt was quoted in the films trailer, calling The Head Hunter, “a gut punch of tension, horror, and dread”.Can the film possibly live up to the massive amounts of praise showered upon it? Or will accounts of the film’s greatness prove to be just a fantasy? I am the writing on the wall, the whisper in the classroom. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep209 – PET SEMATARY (2019)

Welcome, to the first time this year we’ll be squabbling about yet another Stephen King remake! This time around, we’ll be discussing the brand new remake of 1989’s Pet Sematary. If you’ve been a listener of our show for a while now you may have heard our review of Pet Sematary 2. Seeing as how we never reviewed the original, this aught to make up for that, right? (Review starts at 47:27)In addition to our to our carefully crafted colloquialisms, we also have a rather in depth conversation about why we want another Friday the 13th movie, and why slasher films in general are important. Jorge just doesn’t understand slashers, and we gotta take this little n00b to school.Guys, it’s ok! He just wants his machete back! Who Goes There Podcast: Ep208 – CRITTERS: A NEW BINGE

Guys, we did it! We managed to wrangle in our dear friend Chris Franco for another episode! When we heard a new Critters TV show was in the works we immediately called Chris. Even better, you can stream Critters: A New Binge in its entirety over on Shudder. (Review starts at 48:00)To be honest, I’m so happy with how this episode came out. I’ve wanted to get Chris and Rhett into the same room to wax poetic for quite some time. Let me just tell you, they did not disappoint. Sit back, grab your popcorn, and enjoy the insanity! It knows what scares you. It has from the very beginning. Don’t give it any help, it knows too much already. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep207 – US

Whether you love him, or you hate him, there’s no denying that Jordan Peele is currently one of, if not the biggest name in horror cinema. Hot on the heels of his 2017 breakout hit Get Out, Peele is back with his sophomore effort Us. Has Jordan Peele managed to once again capture lightning in a bottle, or has the comedian turned horror director fallen victim to the dreaded sophomore slump? (Review starts at 41:30)In order to prepare for the filming of Us, Jordan Peele had his stars watch a series of genre defining horror, so that they may fully understand what he expected of them. Likewise, we prepared for this episode, we drank… a lot.In addition to unleashing our opinions on what many are already calling “the film of the year” we also talk about how much fun you can have by putting things in your butt. If that’s not your cup of tea we also discuss Devil May Cry 5, the newly announced Toxic Avenger remake, the Dark Tower tv show, and the #horror bullshit happening over at Instagram. But you won’t understand me, you’ll never understand me! You’re too stupid! Quack! Quack! Quack! It’s the Who Goes There Podcast episode 207!If you enjoy the show, please consider joining our Patreon subscribers. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep205 – THE WAILING

We’ve been doing the Who Goes There Podcast for nearly six years and we are just now covering our first Korean film. This week, our guest this week is the haomie: author, San Diegan, and occasional taco eater Brian Asman. We discuss his new book, I’m Not Even Supposed To Be Here Today, and one of the most bizarre and insanely awesome movies we’ve ever covered in 2016’s The Wailing. (Review starts at 21:20)We also discuss other ridiculous stuff, including how Matt pisses Jorge off “on purpose”, the movies we’ve recently seen, and we drink pickle juice right in front of Brian’s pickle hating face! What is fuckin wrong with you, Brian?!You can pick up Brian Asman’s new book I’m Not Even Supposed To Be Here Today on Amazon. The book has time loops, demon summoning homeless, tasty waves, and a giant, menacing, kaiju Kevin Smith. What more do you fuckin want? In all of my travels, I’ve only ever known a human to be an ocean of shit. It’s the Who Goes There Podcast episode 204!If you enjoy the show, please consider joining our Patreon subscribers. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep204 – LORDS OF CHAOS

Lay down your souls to the gods rock ‘n roll! Heavy metal and horror films go together like peanut butter and bacon (seriously, try it). It seems like it was only a matter of time before we’d eventually see more horror films about heavy metal. Luckily for all of us, the real life events surrounding the bands Mayhem, Burzum and the creation of Norwegian Black Metal were just begging for a big screen adaptation.Lords of Chaos introduces a world of unfamiliar fans to all of the church burning, knife wielding, corpse painted insanity that was Norway and the metal scene in the early 1990s. An adaptation of the book of the same name, Lords of Chaos claims it is based on “truth, lies, and what really happened”, but how much of this blood soaked tale is fact, and how much is just for show? Goddamn heads landing on cars while Long Island families are singing ‘Found a Peanut’! They found a peanut, all right, honey. They found a peanut of death! Who Goes There Podcast: Ep203 – AUDITION

Oodalolly, oodalolly, golly what a day! We’re going to talk about The Gay Agenda! No, I’m not talking about what they’re doing to the soil over at Stuart’s trailer park. We’re joined by Luis, drummer for the San Diego hardcore band The Gay Agenda, to discuss “queer core” and some good, old fashioned, Japanese gore in the form of 1999’s Audition.Audition has been hailed as a “turning point in Japanese cinema” and is celebrating its twenty year anniversary with the release of a sweet, new 2K restoration. We’re here to answer the REAL questions, folks. Does Audition live up to the hype? Does it still hold up after two decades of infamy? Tune in and find out.You can find The Gay Agenda on Facebook and Bandcamp.Your mouth would make an interesting urinal. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep202 – VELVET BUZZSAW

Art is arguably one of the most powerful forces on Earth. In the right (or wrong) hands art can spark inspiration, bring together a nation, or destroy a regime. However, when art falls into supernatural hands it has the power to kill pretentious yuppies in hilarious ways; enter Velvet Buzzsaw. (Review starts at 28:12)Velvet Buzzsaw has the unique distinction of being “a horror movie about art, versus an art movie about horror”; boy is it a good thing it is. In addition to our on point critiques of Velvet Buzzsaw we’ll also give you the abridged history of Mormonism, our thoughts on new film The Prodigy, and explore Matt’s “habit forming” Hierophilia.I’d like to know what you’re doing with all that chicken in your pants. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep201 – PIERCING

Guys, we’re finally on Spotify! We know, we should have been on there much sooner, but there was some kind of problem with our artwork. The point is, now you can easily access our “quality horror content” without a designated podcast app! One we hit episode 200 we decided we were going to do less “mainstream new releases” and more of what we actually want to do. With that in mind, if you came here this week looking for Happy Death Day 2U or The Prodigy, sucks for you haomie, you’re getting Piercing! (Review starts at 23:50) Have you ever had the uncontrollable urge to stab your newborn baby to death with an icepick? Have you decided instead to stab a prostitute to death, only to a wild, romcom of a night with said prostitute? Well, then you might be the inspiration behind the movie Piercing, which is directed by the same guy who did The Eyes of My Mother, and based on the book Piercing, which was written by the guy who wrote Audition. So that’s fun. I wish there was a very nice woman hiding somewhere. It’s the Who Goes There Podcast episode 201! If you enjoy the show, please consider joining our Patreon subscribers. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep200 – ALIEN & FATHER’S DAY

When we started the Who Goes There Podcast in the Spring of 2013 our goal was to introduce people to the insane movies that we love, especially the more obscure films. As of late we have lost our way a bit and fallen into reviewing every Hollywood horror film that is released, regardless of if we even want to watch it. For episode 200, we said, “fuck that noise!” That’s right, slap nuts! For episode 200 we’re kicking off Februwiener the right way by fluffing ourselves and our egos! This week we’re doing two movies; we’re doing “the ultimate Matt and Jorge movies”! Each of us picked a movie that we feel best captures what we love about horror and we’re cramming it in to one girthy ass…episode. First we kick things off with 1979’s Alien (Review starts at 31:30), then we get zany as fuck with the 2011 Troma release Father’s Day (Review at 1:01:00) You want a dick month? We’ll give you dick month! Starting with the Who Goes There Podcast episode 200! If you enjoy the show, please consider joining our Patreon subscribers. Who Goes There Podcast: Ep 199 – GLASS

In 2017, M. Night Shyamalan shocked the horror universe! When the occasionally-genius-often-terrible director revealed his new film Split, (about a super-human schizophrenic) was in fact a sequel to 2000’s Unbreakable and part of a planned trilogy, fans and haters alike lost their collective minds.Fast forward two years and the trilogy is now complete, with the release of the third and “final” installment: Glass. In order to tackle a movie of such great importance, we’ve reformed our powerful threesome and brought Chris back to…make sense of Glass. (Review starts at 31:27)We’ll catch up on all things Chris, and get down to our usual douche baggery; but you love that, you dumb bastard.Glass Samuel L. Jackson, James McAvoy, and Bruce Willis Maybe now you’ll take me syrupsly! It’s the Who Goes There Podcast episode 199!If you enjoy the show, please consider joining our Patreon subscribers. Who Goes There Podcast: Episode 198 – DOWNRANGE

For the last four years, I’ve greatly looked forward to the the second weekend of October. The second weekend in October is when we drive for 13 hours to get to beautiful Telluride, Colorado to take part in the Telluride Horror Show. Over the last four year we’ve met some awesome people and seen some incredible movies. Hell, we’ve even seen a couple of not so great movies there. Downrange is one of those movies. (Review starts at 26:51)Join us, as we get irrationally upset at an inexplicably unenjoyable movie. If that isn’t enough to blow your hair back we also give our thoughts on the Resident Evil 2 one-shot demo, and the announcement of a Final Destination reboot. Still not enough? We’ve got advice on how to quickly and easily put your children to sleep using only narcotics and our own versions of the Bird Box challenge.Your mother sucks cocks in hell! Viva Dick Month!
