And over the phone, my parents were told that I couldn't train and I never would be able to train and it didn't actually make sense. It was a pretty big blow and I didn't understand because that was the first time I was ever told that I couldn't do something. Mr. Jason Davis - Episode 466 Martial arts changed his life. That sums up what the journey is like for Mr. Jason Davis. He was born with cerebral palsy and he was thought of not going to survive by the doctors at that time. When Mr. Jason Davis was 8 years old, he was turned away from a martial arts school because of his condition. Today, he leads the Adaptive Martial Arts Association (AMAA), an organization he founded, which aims to help adaptive individuals to pursue their journies into the martial arts. He (Sensei Jack Seki) used to tell us that you're always armed. You're armed with the ground. He said it's better than a club, it's better than a knife because you can hit someone with the Earth. What he meant by that is you could throw them, if you want, head first to the ground and coming from 5 feet high in the air however they are when you throw them, they're not going to get up. Professor David Meyer's story is not far from it because he went to a local community college to train at age 6 with his brother who was being bullied.
