This week - why are things so sticky for the Toffees? Everton are one of the best supported clubs in England yet despite the best efforts of manager Sean Dyche on the field, off it they seem to lurch from one financial crisis to another.
The club is at risk of a points deduction for breaching financial fair play and a mooted takeover by Florida-based 777 Partners is hugely controversial.
