#17 How to Build Trust for Speak Up Culture

How can leaders show they care, if people don’t speak up? My guest, Renée, enables leaders to step into their power to serve people during change and build trust by showing up for them. Renée is an award-winning communications professional with international corporate and NGO experiences. "Doing good” is her compass. She’s a change management lecturer, with a fire that burns for growing herself and the organisation that she works for. Her emotional intelligence and ability to see what the organization needs from leadership is truly inspiring.

Show Notes

Renée shares her experiences enabling leaders who lead digitizing firms in different industries. We discuss:

  1. How leaders can show up and hold space for people during change
  2. How to engineer the plane as it flies with trust
  3. How to lead constructive dialogue to help establish a speak up culture

My top 3 learnings on how leaders can build trust for a speak up culture:

  • Reflect on your role as a leader and ask yourself:  How can I better be of service to my people? What's my role during change?
  • Earn trust by working on your relationship with people: show up, and build security during change--people need to see you, feel your emotions, and know that you’re there for them if you want them to speak up
  • Stay in consistent, in presence and in speech, and combine this with a willingness to be authentic and  expose yourself--model the behavior you expect of them
