The 101: Why The Digitally Dispatched Podcast Exists…
"911, location of your emergency..." A greeting just like this one, is what EVERYONE hears after hitting the three golden numbers. They are the first numbers you think of when YOU need first responders. My name is Lisa Moore. I'm a 911 Police Dispatcher. I've been sending officers to help you for 20 years and have had countless 911 calls; some of them incredibly emotional - others that - probably should have called the non-emergency number. All of them, in one way or another, make for dynamic, educational storytelling. It's time to share them all. A Cop’s First Time…
In police work we say there are some things you will see that you just can't unsee. Things that will change you, profoundly impact you, and the way you look at the world. Sometimes for the better, but often for the worse. I've seen many things over the years that I just can't unsee. But, nothing has had quite the same impact on me as an all too short-lived encounter with an 8-year-old in the middle of rural route 126 one chilly October night. It was eye-opening. It was unsettling. It was my first time dealing with death.
