S1 Ep 14Bonus Episode: Shea Tuttle Exactly As You Are: The Life and Faith of Mister Rogers
Bonus Episode: Shea Tuttle Exactly As You Are: The Life and Faith of Mister Rogers Fred Rogers fiercely believed that all people deserve love. This conviction wasn’t simply sentimental: it came directly from his Christian faith. God, he insisted, loves us just the way we are. In the book, Exactly as You Are, Shea Tuttle looks at Fred Rogers’s life, the people and places that made him who he was, and his work through Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. She pays particular attention to his faith—because Fred Rogers was a deeply spiritual person, ordained by his church with a one-of-a-kind charge: to minister to children and families through television. Tuttle explores this kind, influential, and sometimes surprising man: the neighborhood he came from, the neighborhood he built, and the kind of neighbor he, by his example, calls all of us to be. S1 Ep 10Episode Eight: The Self-Control of Fred Rogers
Welcome To The Neighborhood: A Mister Rogers Tribute Podcast Episode Eight: The Self-Control of Fred Rogers In 1968 Fred Rogers wrote a song that asks some important questions: "What do you do with the mad that you feel When you feel so mad you could bite? When the whole wide world seems oh, so wrong... And nothing you do seems very right? What do you do? Do you punch a bag? Do you pound some clay or some dough? Do you round up friends for a game of tag? Or see how fast you go? It's great to be able to stop When you've planned a thing that's wrong, And be able to do something else instead And think this song: I can stop when I want to Can stop when I wish I can stop, stop, stop any time. And what a good feeling to feel like this And know that the feeling is really mine. Know that there's something deep inside That helps us become what we can. For a girl can be someday a woman And a boy can be someday a man." -Fred Rogers Like to read?
