Virus poem
Virus
By Maryann Migliorelli
I am not Corona Virus
I am a virus just the same,
Please let me introduce myself
I am happy to explain.
I am the laughter of little children
And the sound of happy feet,
Listen closely while they play
For their voices strong and sweet.
I am the tickle of good Champaign
As it bubbles near your nose,
And the coziness of cocoa
As it warms you to your toes.
The summer scent of hot dogs
And burgers on the grill,
The cocoanut tanning lotion
On the beaches where you chill.
The multi-layered taste
Of a chocolate covered berry,
The cool and creamy richness
Of ice cream from your favorite dairy.
Vibrant colors of a rainbow
And the brilliance of the stars,
Sun glow and moon glow
Creating beauty where you are.
The strong and loving arms
Closing you in an embrace
The touch of a newborn baby’s skin
And God’s amazing grace.
I am a loving joyful virus
Corona’s not my name,
Take the time to know me well
Then spread me in every way.
Because spreading love and joy
Gives you the ultimate power,
To make the world a better place
For all in this timely hour.
