Anduril Industries raised $1.5 billion, marking the largest defense tech funding round, reflecting heightened investor interest in defense technology. In 2024, defense tech startups secured $2.5 billion in funding, nearing the 2022 record of $2.6 billion. Major venture capital firms, including Andreessen Horowitz and General Catalyst, significantly invested in this sector. Andreessen Horowitz participated in 14 deals since 2021 and led a $175 million round for Saronic. Other active investors like 8VC have made a dozen investments since 2021, while General Catalyst led a $489 million round for the AI software developer Helsing. The venture capital landscape shifted towards defense tech due to rising demand for advanced technologies such as AI and cybersecurity.
