AI startup funding trends show a decline in seed rounds and stable valuations. In Q3 2024, AI startups secured $19.1 billion in venture funding, with total deal flow dropping below 1,000 rounds for the first time since ChatGPT's launch, a 33% year-over-year decline. Seed rounds decreased by 43%, totaling 627 rounds, the lowest since ChatGPT's introduction. Despite fewer seed rounds, the total amount raised remained consistent with previous quarters due to high valuations. Notable seed investments included Sentient's $85 million and Defcon AI's $44 million. Early-stage funding decreased slightly by 6% year-over-year to $6.2 billion, while late-stage funding increased to $11.3 billion, reflecting a 36% rise from Q2, driven by significant investments like Alphabet's into Waymo.
