Show Notes

Zhimin Qian pleaded guilty to money laundering in the UK after authorities seized approximately 61,000 Bitcoin, valued at £5.5 billion, linked to a fraud in China affecting over 128,000 victims. Investigators used on-chain analytics, device forensics, and cross-border collaboration to trace the Bitcoin and Qian's attempts to convert it into property and luxury goods. Jian Wen was convicted previously, Seng Hok Ling also pleaded guilty, and law enforcement demonstrated the ability to trace, restrain, and prosecute large-scale crypto crime, signalling a need for enhanced due diligence and stricter AML controls for Web3 operators, real estate agents, and high-value dealers.
