Pope Francis is advocating for ethical development and use of artificial intelligence (AI), and will bring this stance to the G7 Summit in Puglia in June. Notably, this will be the first time a Pope has participated in a G7 summit. The attendee countries of the summit include the United States, Britain, Canada, Germany, France, and Japan. Pope Francis's attention will be centered specifically on the AI session. His active participation is expected to shape the regulatory, ethical, and cultural framework for AI. Additionally, the Vatican bioethics institute, Pontifical Academy for Life, is leading a movement to champion ethical standards for AI development and usage, with the latest collaborator being Cisco Systems.
