Microsoft is investing $1.7 billion over four years in cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure in Indonesia, marking the company's largest investment in its 29 years of operation there. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella says the investment aims to boost Indonesia's growth in a new era transformed by AI, with components including digital infrastructure, training, and developer support. The investment will support AI training for 840,000 people and enhance Indonesia's growing community of tech developers, currently the third largest in the Asia-Pacific region. Indonesian President Joko Widodo has suggested that Microsoft establish an AI research center and a data center in Indonesia as part of the country's digital growth strategy.
