On February 25, 2025, Anthropic is completing a $3.5 billion funding round that will value the company at $61.5 billion. The funding round includes investors such as Lightspeed Venture Partners, General Catalyst, and Bessemer Venture Partners. In February 2024, Anthropic had a valuation of $18.5 billion. This new funding positions Anthropic ahead of Elon Musk’s xAI, valued at $50 million after a $6 billion Series C funding round, but still below OpenAI, which is nearing a $40 billion funding deal with SoftBank that would value it at around $260 billion. Anthropic previously secured $1 billion from Google, which had already invested $2 billion in October 2023. Additionally, Amazon recently committed $4 billion to Anthropic, part of a broader investment plan to gain a minority stake in the company.
