Show Notes
In 1920’s Los Angeles, a mother/daughter duo of sixty-year-old May Otis Blackburn and her 24-year-old daughter Ruth started a cult called Blackburn with the goal of swindling members out of money. The cult had bizarre rituals, and was connected to mysterious deaths, disappearances, and sex scandals. There was also an attempted resurrection of a 16 year old girl whose corpse had been stored in a wooden box in a makeshift mausoleum underneath her parents' house. The cult was so bizarre that justices on the California Supreme Court in 1931 admitted, “they have never heard anything so weird.”
ALSO: The mother/daughter cult-like group called The Angelic Initiative who post daily videos of themselves speaking to angels and doing odd exercises.
