Ep 91WDW Radio Show # 91 - November 2, 2008 - Your Walt Disney World Information Station

Hello and welcome to The WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello and this is show #91 for the week of November 2, 2008. We’ll start off this week’s show with some news from Walt Disney World, including information on a number of special events going on now and in the coming weeks. From there, we’ll chat with Disney’s Chief Magic Official and all around nice guy Justin Muchoney about what he’s been up to, what’s new and maybe even what’s next. In our next segment, I’ll fire up the old Wayback Machine and take us back to a time before Walt Disney World had even opened. And joining me on my trek through the Florida swamps is fellow Disney geek Craig Wheeler, as he and I take a close look at a Walt Disney World we never knew by exploring the Lost Resorts of the Magic Kingdom. It’s a fun look back at what was supposed to be and might have been, with a little wondering and wishing as well. I’ll answer a few of your emails, announce an impromptu new contest and give you some updates before playing your voicemails at the end of the show this week, so sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show. You can email the show at [email protected] or call the voicemail TOLL FREE at 1-888-703-2171. Visit the web site at wdwradio.com. Ep 90WDW Radio Show # 90 - October 26, 2008 - Your Walt Disney World Information Station

Hello and welcome once again to The WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello and this is show #90 for the week of October 26, 2008. Timing is everything, and this week I have two segments for you that I chose just for that reason. With the upcoming Presidential election, I thought it would be a great opportunity to take a detailed look at the Magic Kingdom’s Hall of Presidents. It’s an attraction rich in history, unique in concept and is unfortunately often overlooked. Kristen Helmstetter, who wrote her Honors Thesis on this attraction, joins me to discuss its history, story, changes and importance. In my next segment, we’ll celebrate the Halloween season, along with one of our all-time favorite attractions, as Tim Foster and I take a fun look at the Top Ten Things We Love About the Haunted Mansion. With so much to enjoy and appreciate about this timeless classic, Top 10 might be a bit of a misnomer on this one. I’ll have more updates at the end of the show, as well as some of your voicemails, so sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show. You can email the show at [email protected] or call the voicemail TOLL FREE at 1-888-703-2171 . Visit the web site at wdwradio.com. Ep 89WDW Radio Show # 89 - October 19, 2008 - Your Walt Disney World Information Station

Hello and welcome once again to The WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello and this is show #89 for the week of October 19, 2008. I just returned from Walt Disney World, where I was covering a number of special events for the show. I was able to attend and bring you audio from the opening of the new Cast Member Wellness Center and speak with Walt Disney World President Meg Crofton and worldwide parks operations president Al Weiss, as well as the 2009 Walt Disney World Ambassador ceremony and meet the two new Ambassadors. I also attended a sneak peek of the new T-Rex Café in Downtown Disney, and will bring you a little something different from that event this week. I’ll have more News and a quick visit to the Walt Disney World Rumor Mill. I’ll introduce a new segment this week called “How to Be an Imagineer,” in response to the question I’ve received quite often over the past few years. Disney Imagineer Ed Romeo joins me to talk about his story and journey to become an Imagineer, as well as what working at and for Imagineering was like. This interview will be the first of hopefully many that will help prove to you that the road to becoming an Imagineer might not necessarily be the path you think. I’ll have more updates at the end of the show, just sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show. Hello everybody and welcome once again to The WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello and this is show #88 for the week of October 12, 2008. We’re going to start off this week with our tribute to the Adventurer’s Club. And rather than just a look at what it was, its rooms and shows, we’re going to explore the Club like never before, because if you think you knew everything there was to know about the Adventurer’s Club, you might be a bit surprised. Joining me this week is world-renowned Disney historian and author Jim Korkis, who is going to share his exhaustive research into the history and details of the Club, and the stories behind the stories. We’ll go way back and examine it from the very beginning, from concept, to drawing board changes, its creators, design and so much more. Moving from one party to another, we’ll next head on over to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, as George Taylor and I tell you all about this special event, what you can do while you’re there, tips to get the most out of the party, and why we think this is one of Walt Disney World’s best events. I’ll play more of your voicemails at the end of the show after some a few announcements, so just sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show. Ep 86WDW Radio Show # 86 - September 28, 2008 - Your Walt Disney World Information Station

Hello everybody and welcome once again to The WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello and this is show #86 for the week of September 28, 2008. I’m back from a busy week in Walt Disney World with a full recap of the week’s events, including News and details about what is coming for 2009, including the Celebration Vacations, changes and new additions to the Wide World of Sports Complex, and a new experience in Fantasyland with Tinker Bell and her fairy friends. I’ll talk to some executives with Disney to discuss just what’s coming next. I’ll talk about my trip with a number of other friends and listeners to the show, as we recorded our recap of the week live from Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. We’ll talk about everything from our experience at the newly reopened Nine Dragons restaurant in World Showcase, dinner at the Wave at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, the last nights of the Adventurer’s Club, and if we didn’t talk about food enough, I’ll play our live reviews from the promenade as we review samples from each Wonderland kiosk at Epcot’s International Food & Wine Festival. It’s a first-hand, on-the-spot review of many of the culinary delights being offered at the Festival from now through November 9, 2008. We’ll also talk about other events throughout the week, and the Inaugural Expedition Everest Challenge 5K race that took place this past Saturday. Many of us faced the Yeti and lived to tell about it, so here’s our recap of the race and party. I also have an exclusive interview with Steve Schussler, the creator of the Rainforest Café, Yak & Yeti and Downtown Disney’s newest dining experience, the T-Rex Café. He joins me to talk about his incredible personal journey, and the creation of some of Walt Disney World’s most unique restaurants. Finally, I’ll reveal the Grand Prize Winner of the Adventureland Challenge Contest, and crown the Ultimate Adventurer. Ep 84WDW Radio Show # 84 - September 14, 2008 - Your Walt Disney World Information Station

Hello and welcome once again to The WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello and this is show #84 for the week of September 14, 2008. I’ll kick off this week’s show with some news and rumors from Walt Disney World, and then I’ll take you on a brief trip back to Walt Disney World with me, as I look at some highlights from my recent trip. Not a day by day trip report per se, but more looking at a few experiences I had that you might not have known even exist in and out of the parks. From there, I left the joys of a No Way Jose’ at Beaches and Cream and headed out onto the high seas for a special, 5-day cruise aboard the Disney Magic. In addition to a scheduled 2 days at Castaway Cay, this voyage was even more magical, as it was hosted by Deb Wills and Steve Barrett, and featured great events and one surprise after another. So I invited the hosts to join me this week to recap the cruise and talk about some of the magic on the Magic. And the time has finally come – we are down to the final 3 in the Adventureland Challenge Contest, and the finalists join me on the show this week to answer a series of questions so YOU can help decide who will be crowned the Ultimate Adventurer and win the Grand Prize of the 6 day, VIP vacation for 4 to Walt Disney World. There’s more at the end of the show, so sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show. You can email the show at [email protected] or call the voicemail at 206-202-4WDW (4939). Ep 83WDW Radio Show # 83 - September 7, 2008 - Your Walt Disney World Information Station

Welcome to The WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello and this is show #83 for the week of September 7, 2008. I literally just stepped off the Disney Magic, so I apologize for not having any news or rumors again this week, but I will give you a few updates I picked up while in Walt Disney World. As if the first weekend of the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, the inaugural Expedition Everest Challenge, the final Hoopla at the Adventurer’s Club, and just the fact that it’s Walt Disney World isn’t enough to get you down to the parks during the weekend of September 26-28, then my first segment just might be the extra little push you need. Adam Roth, the “boy wonder” behind the Celebrations 25 event, joins me to talk about World Wide Weekend, the weekend-long, signature event that includes backstage tours, group rides, a chance to meet fellow Disney fans and so much more. I’ll be attending as well, and we’ll tell you all about the events, and how you can participate. Since “Top Ten with Tim” sounds better than Top Ten with Samantha, Tim Foster joins me again this week for another Top 10 segment. This week, we look at the Top 10 (or 30) Places to Get Away From It All in Walt Disney World. It’s some of our favorite out of the way places, little hideaways and diversions in and out of the parks. And finally this week, I’ll announce the names of the 3 contestants that will be moving on to the Final Round of the Adventureland Challenge Contest. Your votes have been cast and tallied, and we are one step closer to crowning the Ultimate Adventurer and the winner of the Grand Prize – the 6 day, VIP vacation for 4 to Walt Disney World. I’ll once again end the show with more of your voicemails, so sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show. You can email the show at [email protected] or call the voicemail at 206-202-4WDW (4939). Visit the web site at wdwradio.com. Ep 82WDW Radio Show # 82 - August 31, 2008 - Your Walt Disney World Information Station

Welcome to The WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello and this is show #82 for the week of August 31, 2008 . I’m producing the show early this week, so there won’t be any news or rumors, but I do something for you that I think you’ll enjoy. Jim Henson’s MuppetVision 3D is a landmark attraction in Walt Disney World not just for it’s groundbreaking technology, classic characters, and truly hysterical show script. It’s an attraction that begins outside the show itself and carries over into arguably one of the very best queues anywhere in the Disney parks. But beyond that, it represents the work of its creator Jim Henson, and serves as a reminder of the relatively recent marriage between the Disney and Henson companies – and a deal whose negotiations began more than a decade ago. This week, I am pleased to welcome Jim Lewis and Craig Shemin, former staff writers for the Jim Henson Company, who were instrumental in the concept, design and creation of MuppetVision 3D. We’ll discuss the creation of the attraction and so many of its priceless jokes and gags, as well as the Muppet attractions that never came to be, working with Jim Henson, and the future of the Disney and the Muppets. It’s a fun chat with two of the people that knew Jim Henson well, and today continue to preserve his legacy. I’ll end the show with a few of your voicemails, so sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show. You can email the show at [email protected] or call the voicemail at 206-202-4WDW (4939). Visit the web site at wdwradio.com. Ep 81WDW Radio Show # 81 - August 24, 2008 - Your Walt Disney World Information Station

Welcome to The WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station. This is show #81 for the week of August 24, 2008, and as always I am your host, Lou Mongello We’ll start off with some news from Walt Disney World, including a new, interactive experience for Guests, and in the Walt Disney World Rumor Mill, we’ll take a look another add-on, outside-the-park adventure experience that may or may not be coming in the future. One of my favorite segments on the show are the DSI: Disney Scene Investigations, and this week, we take a look at one of my favorite attractions – Peter Pan’s Flight. We’ll look at the history of the attraction, its roots and connection to Disneyland, examine it scene-by-scene, and explore why it remains such a timeless classic. There are so many reasons to go to Walt Disney World – family vacation with the kids, honeymooning with your new spouse, the big family reunion, or even the occasional solo research trip. But what about just a bunch of the guys getting together and going away? And instead of places like Myrtle Beach or Las Vegas, what about going to Walt Disney World? Steve “Tikiman” Seifert joins me to talk about going away on a “Mancation” to Walt Disney World, the many things to do outside the parks, and how to get the most out of the experience. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show. You can email the show at [email protected] or call the voicemail at 206-202-4WDW (4939). Visit the web site at wdwradio.com. Ep 80WDW Radio Show # 80 - August 17, 2008 - Your Walt Disney World Information Station

Welcome to The WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello and this is show #80 for the week of August 17, 2008. This week’s show is very special, as I will be devoting an entire episode to a single segment, and more importantly, a single man. He is Richard M. Sherman. You know him as one of the Sherman Brothers, the most successful songwriting team in history, and the name that defines the music and mood of so many Disney feature films and theme park attractions. Mr. Sherman joins me in this one-to-one interview about his career beginnings, time at the Disney Studios, working for and with Walt Disney, and the stories behind the stories of working on timeless classics like Mary Poppins and legendary songs such as “it’s a small world” and hundreds of others. I’ll end the show not with announcements or voicemails, but instead, with my small tribute to the work of the Sherman Brothers in thanks for Mr. Sherman joining me on the show, and for a lifetime of memories he helped create. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this very special episode of the WDW Radio Show. You can email the show at [email protected] or call the voicemail at 206-202-4WDW (4939). This is show #79 for the week of August 10, 2008, and as always I am your host, Lou Mongello We’ll start off by looking at some news from Walt Disney World, including notable rehabs, closures, exclusive Passholder opportunities and more. In the Walt Disney World Rumor Mill, we may be getting some new updates on Star Tours 2.0, Lucky the Dinosaur might not be as fortunate as his name suggests, and you may get a new opportunity to see just what else goes on at the Laugh Floor coming soon. One of Walt Disney World’s true Hidden Treasures comes to us from listener Sarah Ames, who joins me to show you that no one has more fun than us… except YeHaa Bob Jackson over at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort. He and his show are truly the Best of the Best, and we’ll tell you how, when and why you should make a special trip to the River Roost lounge to join Bob for his show. Ep 78WDW Radio Show # 78 - August 3, 2008 - Your Walt Disney World Information Station

Welcome to the WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am Lou Mongello happy to back with you again this week, and this is show #78 for the week of August 3, 2008. In this week's breaking Walt Disney World News, I'll have information about a new dining package coming in 2009, as well as some changes to ticket pricing. I'll update you on the new Kidani Village at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and some other changes around the resorts. In the parks, I'll tell you how and when you can audition for a new attraction in Walt Disney World, and in the Rumor Mill, I'll give you a hint at what movie is being rumored for a new attraction in the parks. Disney's Year of a Million Dreams has always extended far beyond the handing out of physical prizes in the parks, truly embracing its namesake. In fact, it has really always been about making dreams come true for people, and often times, dreams they may never have known they even had. Whether it is giving a family a night in a Castle, or crowning one man Chief Magic Official, it gives people opportunities never before available. And for 12 lucky, talented people who love Walt Disney World, their dreams came true as well, when they were selected to the Disney World Mom's Panel, an online forum where Guests could ask the experts and gain insights about planning their Walt Disney World vacation. This week, I want to welcome 7 of those members to the show, as we discuss not just the panel and how and why they were selected, but to learn more about them, the panel and what they are doing to help. I'll have more at the end of the show, including many more of your voicemails, so sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show. We'll start off with some Walt Disney World News and Rumors this week, including changes across the resort to the reservations system, resorts, restaurants, hauntings and holidays. We'll also look at some possible new Disney destinations, high-tech touring, and much more. I talk about trying to bring you a little bit of Disney Magic to you each week, but last week, Disney Magic went to Camp Hill, PA in the form of MagicMeets, a yearly gathering of Disney fans from around the nation. Now celebrating its 5th year, I thought it would be fun to recap the weekend's events not just for those listeners that attended, but for those of you that may not know what MagicMeets is, and maybe in the process, help show you why you might want to mark next year's event on your calendar. I am joined by the event's founder, Fred Block, as well as Pat Whitson (Dream Team Auction coordinator), guest and videographer Jamie Curci, and listener and attendee Dave Recchione, in a fun look at the event, and some of the real magic that was created thanks to the incredible efforts and generosity of so many people, and how the community's efforts will go a long way towards helping children that need the magic most. Happy Birthday America – At 232 years old, you still look GREAT to me. We'll start off this week's show with another look at some of my favorite Disney books. George Taylor joins me as we focus on three titles that examine the art in architecture of the parks. I'm still very much in an Adventureland mood, with the release of the next Audio Guide CD just days away, so I thought we'd look at some interesting and questionable Hidden Mickeys of Adventureland with Steve Barrett. And speaking of Adventureland and the Guide, I have been telling you about the BIG announcement I have that ties into the release of the Guide. Well, the wait is finally over, and I'll share the news with you before the end of the show. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show. Ep 72WDW Radio Show # 72 - June 22, 2008 - Your Walt Disney World Information Station

Welcome to the WDW Radio Show - your Walt Disney World Information Station. Thank you for tuning in once again. This is show #72 for the week of June 22, 2008. I am your host Lou Mongello, and I am admittedly VERY excited about this week's show I won't have any news or rumors this week, but will have an announcement before getting to my first guest. And part of the reason why I'm so excited about this week's show is because of whom my first guest is. Disney Channel fans may remember a series from the mid-90's called Walt Disney World Inside Out, which took you literally behind the scenes of the parks every week. This week, I am joined by the one of the hosts of what was probably my favorite show on television, JD Roth. We'll talk not only about his career and experiences on the show, but what he's been doing ever since. You may now know that he is one of Hollywood's hottest producers, with not only many popular reality and game shows to his credit, but he's also going to be the host of a new show coming to ABC later this year unlike any other that's been done in the past. And best of all, he'll tell you how you and your family can be a part of it! And you don't have to go to Hollywood – JD and the show will come to you! Continuing in my 7 Wonders of Walt Disney World series, where we explore some of the things that truly make Walt Disney World such a magical place, this week we'll take a detailed look back at the overwhelming choice of almost everyone who cast a vote. We'll explore the history, story and technological marvels that make Spaceship Earth more than just an icon for a theme park. It's a classic attraction that gives us all a sense of our collective past, and acts as a symbol of our hopes for the future. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show. . You can email the show at [email protected] or call the voicemail at 206-202-4WDW (4939). Ep 71WDW Radio Show # 71 - June 15, 2008 - Your Walt Disney World Information Station

Welcome to the WDW Radio Show - your Walt Disney World Information Station. Thank you for tuning in once again. This is show #71 for the week of June 15, 2008. I am your host Lou Mongello, and I am back from covering Star Wars Weekends at Disney's Hollywood Studios In this week's Walt Disney World News, I'll respond to your inquiries about Disney's baggage policies when you check in for your flight at your resort, pin events, what's coming to the Wide World of Sports, and how you can watch full length Disney movies for free. In the Walt Disney World Rumor Mill, we'll talk about what's coming to Toy Story Mania, and why next year may be the last for some very popular merchandise. I'll recap my visit to the first Star Wars Weekends events at Disney's Hollywood Studios with Glenn Whelan, as we look back at our experiences, talk to other Guests in attendance, and think about what the future of the event might hold. We talk about the Disney magic that we all know, believe in and appreciate, as it's really what brings us back time and time again to Walt Disney World. But what you might not know is that there are many sides to the magic that is created, and quite often, we neither see nor hear about it. I'm not talking about the magic created inside the resort, but what Disney does to bring that magic to those that really need it in a variety of ways. As giving back to the community has always been important to me, I wanted to let you hear about some of the amazing efforts that so many members of the Walt Disney World cast take part in throughout the year. So I want to share with you my interview Eugene Campbell, who is Disney's Vice President of Community Affairs about what they do to help people close to home. Beci Mankhen from MouseFan Travel joins me once again to answer more of your emails, and I'll play more of your voicemails at the end of the show. Stay tuned after the email section, as I'll give you a chance to sample my Audio Guide to Walt Disney World, and have a couple of announcements. So as always, please sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show.. You can email the show at [email protected] or call the voicemail at 206-202-4WDW (4939). Welcome to the WDW Radio Show - your Walt Disney World Information Station. Thank you for tuning in once again. This is show #70 for the week of June 8, 2008. I am your host Lou Mongello, coming to you this and every week bringing you the very best ways to enjoy and enhance your Walt Disney World vacation experience. No news this week, as I'm leaving early to cover Star Wars Weekends, but a couple of interesting items in the Walt Disney World Rumor Mill which includes a possible addition to the Magic Kingdom. Tim Foster joins me once again for another Top 10 with Tim, as we explore our Top 10 Refurbishments in the parks. It's an interesting look at some of the welcome changes that have taken place throughout the years, and might even make you take a second look at that attraction you haven't experienced in some time. Listener Tony Mendyk gets in the hot seat for another round of "Walt Disney World – Fact or Fiction?" He'll answer some trivia questions in a fun game where there are no prizes to be won, but just a fun way to talk about some trivia and history. I'll answer some more of your vacation planning emails this week along with the help of Beci Mankhen, owner of MouseFanTravel, including questions on specialty cruises, dinner shows, traveling with a large group, backstage tours, and more. Listen for more of your voicemails at the end of the show, so sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show. Ep 69WDW Radio Show # 69 - June 1, 2008 - Your Walt Disney World Information Station

Welcome to the WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station. Thank you for tuning in once again. This is show #69 for the week of June 1, 2008. I am your host Lou Mongello, coming to you this and every week bringing you the very best ways to enjoy and enhance your Walt Disney World vacation experience. In this week's Walt Disney World News, I'll discuss a new marathon coming to Walt Disney World in 2009, another way to bring some Disney magic to your iPod, and a new set of DVDs coming from Imagineering this Fall. My visit to the Walt Disney World Rumor Mill hints at a new way to purchase Disney theme park items right from home, parade changes coming to the Magic Kingdom, and possible confirmation of the Star Tours rumors. Speaking of Star Tours, Star Wars Weekends begins on June 6 and runs through the month, so I wanted to discuss the events, the different elements that make up each weekend, and how to get the most out of them, whether you are a Star Wars superfan or not. So I brought in George "Darth Sidious" Taylor and Glenn "Grand Moff Tarkin" Whelan to pull up a chair in the Cantina and join me in a roundtable discussion about the weekends. Steve Barrett and I trek through Conservation Station and Rafiki's Planet Watch hunting Hidden Mickeys, including the elusive one that can be found on a live animal as well. I'll answer some more of your emails this week, including questions on Illuminations, the Epcot 25 Exhibit, strollers and more. Ep 68WDW Radio Show # 68 - May 25, 2008 - Your Walt Disney World Information Station

Welcome to the WDW Radio Show - your Walt Disney World Information Station. Thank you for tuning in once again. I am Lou Mongello, coming to you this and every week bringing you the very best ways to enjoy and enhance your Walt Disney World vacation experience. This is show #68 for the week of May 25, 2008. News from Walt Disney World includes some Prince Caspian sightings, a new restaurant opening at one of Disney's Resorts, as well as a welcome new addition to another restaurant, and changes coming to the Wide World of Sports. In the Walt Disney World Rumor Mill, I'll have an update to the Space Mountain rumors, a sponsor that may be moving out, and no longer Living with the Land, and a few hints at some other new rumors as well. With Star Wars Weekends rapidly approaching, and some rumors about this attraction resurfacing once again, there is no better time for Jeff and I to don our Jedi robes and do a DSI: Disney Scene Investigation of Star Tours at Disney's Hollywood Studios. We'll explore the history of the attraction, the story behind it, a exceptionally geeky look at the queue, the shop and what the future may hold. You don't need to be a Star Wars fan to enjoy the attraction or this segment… but it might just make them a little more fun. A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to meet and chat with TC Newman, one of the two Walt Disney World Ambassadors about her role, what a day in her life is like, her duties and responsibilities, and so much more. It’s a look into one of the most highly-coveted roles in the grand Walt Disney World cast. I'll answer some more of your emails, play some voicemails, and tell you about some changes to the web site, as well as new free downloads you might enjoy. So sit back, relax and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show. Talk about the show by visiting and posting in the WDW Radio Show message forums at DisneyWorldTrivia.com. Ep 67WDW Radio Show # 67 - May 18, 2008 - Your Walt Disney World Information Station

Welcome to the WDW Radio Show - your Walt Disney World Information Station. Thank you for tuning in once again. I am Lou Mongello, coming to you this and every week bringing you the very best ways to enjoy and enhance your Walt Disney World vacation experience. This is show #67 for the week of May 18, 2008. This week's show is going to be just a little bit different from my normal show, as I just returned from Walt Disney World, where I was visiting to cover the new Toy Story Midway Mania attraction press event. So this show is going to be focused on the new E-Ticket attraction opening in Disney's Hollywood Studios later this month. I will first take a look at the event and attraction with Glenn Whelan, as we discuss everything from the new Pixar Studios area of the park, to the incredibly detailed queue and interactive ride experience. It's a spoiler-free review and preview of what Guests can look forward to enjoying for many years to come. Meg Crofton, President of the Walt Disney World Resort, also spoke about what is happening not just at the Studios, but around the Resort, and will share that audio with you as well I met with TC and Kerri, the two Walt Disney World Ambassadors, as they share their thoughts about Disney's newest attraction I had the opportunity to interview a number of Imagineers who worked on the attraction, including Senior Show Producer Chrissie Allen, Senior Concept Writer Kevin Rafferty, Senior Show Producer Laurie Coltrin, and Vice President of Disney's Hollywood Studios Rilous Carter. I'll share audio with their thoughts on the attraction, as well as those of authors Simon and Sharon Veness from a Brit's Guide to Walt Disney World, after experiencing the attraction for the first time. I'll also have an announcement about a new project I've been working on for some time now, so sit back, relax and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show. Ep 66WDW Radio Show # 66 - May 11, 2008 - Your Walt Disney World Information Station

Welcome to the WDW Radio Show - your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host Lou Mongello, and I want to thank you for tuning in again this week. This is show #66 for the week of May 11, 2008. First things first – Happy Mother's Day to all moms and mothers to be. Now on to the show… There's no news this week, as I produced the show early in anticipation of my Walt Disney World trip, but I have a number of segments I think you'll enjoy. This week, I wanted to address a question that many of you have sent to me via email and voicemail, which involves staying off Disney property and renting a vacation home. Steve Trover, CEO of All Star Vacation Homes joins me to answer many of your frequently asked questions, as well as looks at the pros and cons of renting a vacation home, who is might be right for and who it’s not, addresses some possible concerns, and talks about the process. It's a great primer on renting a vacation home, and you just might be surprised as to some of the reasons why it might be a viable option for you and your family. One of the most important aspects of what I do is that of giving back to others with the help of so many people through my Dream Team Project. Of course, I'm certainly not the only one, and as I’ve done in the past, this week I want to profile someone who is truly making magic, and a very big difference, in the lives of children and families that need it most. He is Bert Weiss, a radio personality at Q100 in Atlanta and founder of Bert's Big Adventure, an all expense paid trip to Walt Disney World for families that have children with life-threatening illnesses. It is an inspirational story that once again demonstrates the incredible generosity and dedication of people in the community as a whole. I also welcome back Jeff Pepper to join me in exploring not just a hidden treasure and character connection, but a fun place to grab a hot dog and a Coke, ride the bleachers and catch a few toons. So we’ll take you out to the ballgame at Casey’s Corner on Main Street, USA. So to all you moms out there, sit back, relax and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show. Ep 65WDW Radio Show # 65 - May 4, 2008 - Your Walt Disney World Information Station

Hello and welcome to the WDW Radio Show - your Walt Disney World Information Station. This is show #65 for the week of May 4, 2008. I am your host Lou Mongello, and I want to thank you for tuning in again this week. We'll begin this week as always with our look at the Walt Disney World News, where I talk about a number of news items, including the opening of Toy Story Mania, a welcome change for DVC members, and a number of special events going on in WDW, and one outside the parks where you might get a chance to peek behind the curtain of Imagineering and learn just how they create some of the Disney magic. Disney last week revealed the winner of the first-ever Chief Magic Official contest, and Justin Muchoney from Seven Fields, PA was named the winner out of more than 1300 applicants. Justin joins me, fresh off of the announcement to discuss the application process, rounds of judging, winning the contest, and what the future holds in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. There is never a bad time to visit Walt Disney World, but many Guests, whether it be their first or fiftieth time visiting the Resort, have to decide when is the right time of year to go for them. Often, the question of going on or off-season comes up, as there are both benefits and concerns about traveling to Walt Disney World during both the busy season and less crowded times of year. So to discuss the factors to take into consideration, as well as some of the pros and cons of each, I welcome back Jeff Pepper and George Taylor, fans and family men, to have a roundtable discussion about just that topic. I'll answer a few more of your emails before playing some of your voicemails at the end of the show, so sit back, relax and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show. Ep 59WDW Radio Show # 59 - March 23, 2008 - Your Walt Disney World Information Station

Welcome to the WDW Radio Show - your Walt Disney World Information Station. This is show #59 for the week of March 23, 2008. As always I am your host Lou Mongello, and thanks for taking time to tune in again this week. I will begin this week with News coming out of Walt Disney World which includes information about some new Mickey ears that you can customize and design yourself, the Epcot Flower & Garden Festival, as well as news from the Studios and resorts. In the Walt Disney World Rumor Mill, I’ll talk about cars in the Magic Kingdom – and I’m talking about the attraction and not the movie, a new character you just might see walking (or rolling) around Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as well as some of the cast of characters that you might just see walking around during Star Wars Weekends this summer. Steve Barrett, author of the Hidden Mickeys series of books will join me this week as we start a new series of themed Hidden Mickey hunts, and we’ll begin under the sea (literally) at the Seas pavilion in Epcot. Listener Sarah Kelleth and I will take a look at yet another one of Walt Disney World’s Hidden Treasures and simple pleasures, as we one of the most unique dining experiences in all of Walt Disney World – afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa’s Garden View Tea Room. I’m way behind in answering your listener email, so I’ll respond to some of your questions, which include topics such as making reservations for 2009, Grand Gatherings, the clubs of Pleasure Island, DeVine, the Tiki Room and more. Ep 57WDW Radio Show # 57 - March 9, 2008 - Your Walt Disney World Information Station

Welcome to the WDW Radio Show - your Walt Disney World Information Station. This is show #57 for the week of March 9, 2008. I am your host Lou Mongello, and I want to thank you for tuning in again this week. To all of my new listeners, I want to welcome you to the show as well. I think you’ll find it a positive, fun, feel-good look at Walt Disney World that will inform, educate and entertain you. This weekend, I’m heading to Disneyland in California to compare and contrast the two parks… OK, so I’m going to Disneyland to enjoy the parks for a few days, so unfortunately this week, I’m once again recording early and won’t have the ability to cover news and rumors due to when I’m recording. Of course, I’ll be back next week with all of the WDW news and visit to the Rumor Mill. Next month, Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be celebrating its 10th Anniversary, and following the success of Celebration 25, Adam Roth and his team have put together WDWCelebrations.com and have organized “A Wild Decade,” a gathering to commemorate this occasion. I’m joined by Adam and another member of the team, Jason Diffendal, to discuss the event and how you can get involved. Tim Forster, from Guide to the Magic, is back for another Top 10 with Tim, as we reveal our individual top 10 snacks to enjoy in World Showcase. Any discussion of food in Walt Disney World is fun, and in the process, we hope to introduce you to some snacks that you just may have overlooked, or never thought to try. It’s a fat-free trip around the promenade, guaranteed to leave you hungry at the end. I often get questions about some recommended reading and books that I enjoy about Walt Disney World, Disney history, etc., so this week, I bring in another guest, George Taylor from the Imaginerding blog to examine and discuss the 5 books that every Disney geek needs in their library. I won’t have time to answer any of your emails this week, but listen for some voicemails at the end of the show, so as always, please sit back, relax and enjoy this week’s episode of the WDW Radio Show. You can email the show at [email protected] or call the voicemail at 206-202-4WDW (4939). Visit the web site at wdwradio.com. Welcome to the WDW Radio Show - your Walt Disney World Information Station. This is Show #55 for the week of February 24, 2008. In my trip aboard the Walt Disney World Wayback Machine, I’m going to grab my swimming trunks, pick up Jeff Pepper, and head on over to the Ole Swimmin’ Hole at River Country, Walt Disney World first water park, and a place that conjures up great memories of water slides, sand beaches, picnics and some great times spent with family. Ep 54WDW Radio Show # 54 - February 17, 2008 - Your Walt Disney World Information Station

Welcome to the WDW Radio Show - your Walt Disney World Information Station. This is Show #54 for the week of February 17, 2008. In this week’s Walt Disney World News, I’ll look at a dining change in World Showcase, updates on the Backlot Theater in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, new special events coming to Pleasure Island, and a very special event that is the first of its kind at Walt Disney World that will offer a truly unique experience in many ways. For the next in my Legends of Disney Imagineering interview series, I thought that with the recent name change of the Disney-MGM Studios to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and new direction it is taking in its entertainment offerings, I wanted to have someone come on the show who could speak authoritatively as to the genesis and growth of the park. So I decided that who better to come on the show and talk about this than the man who literally put pen to paper and designed the original concept drawing for the Disney-MGM Studios. He is former Walt Disney Imagineering designer; artist; show creator and so much more, Tim Kirk. He will join me to discuss the history of the Studios, his work on helping form not only the original concept for the park, but his work on some of its premier attractions such as the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, The Great Movie Ride, MuppetVision 3D, Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, and countless others. It is a unique, first-hand look at the creation of the theme park and its signature attractions. I’ll also have time to answer some more of your emails this week, so sit back, relax and enjoy this week’s episode of the WDW Radio Show. You can email the show at [email protected] or call the voicemail at 206-202-4WDW (4939). Visit the web site at wdwradio.com. Welcome to the WDW Radio Show - your Walt Disney World Information Station. This is Show #53 for the week of February 10, 2008. I’m your host Lou Mongello, and I want to thank you for tuning in again this week we celebrate the one-year anniversary of the WDW Radio Show. Although I’ve been podcasting since 2005, this past week marked the first anniversary of this show, and I want to take a moment to thank all of you for your support and for listening over the past year. It’s been an incredible, amazing journey, and I believe that things will only continue to get bigger and better. In fact, I have to tell you that I am more excited about this week’s show than I may have ever been, in large part due to my very special guest. Joining me this week in an exclusive interview is Samantha Brown, host of a number of popular series on the Travel Channel, including a number of specials all about Walt Disney World. She has explored some of the finest resorts on property, as well as the incredible experiences that Guests can enjoy during one of the most magical of seasons. My conversation with Samantha will talk about her work on the Disney park and resorts specials, including the most recent Holidays at Walt Disney World, and she reveals what’s next for her and the Travel Channel as she continues to entertain us with her travels to and exploration of the Disney resorts. Being a long time fan of her work, this interview was not only fun and exciting to do, but one that I think you’re really going to enjoy. In this week’s Walt Disney World News, we’ll cover some of the latest news, including announcing the Star Wars weekend dates for 2008, and I reveal the new live, interactive and high-energy attraction that’s coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Let’s just say that if you ever wanted to be a star and were looking for your big break, here’s your chance! The Walt Disney World Rumor Mill for this week has a number of big stories, including an Epcot pavilion possibly losing a sponsor, a rumored new attraction based on a Disney film that just might surprise you, and a very big, semi-confirmed rumor about not just demolition, but more importantly new construction at one of Walt Disney World’s resorts. This one could be big, so stay tuned. With the recent re-opening of the attraction, I’ll also have a full review of the updated Playhouse Disney – Live on Stage show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, courtesy of a listener. Speaking of new things coming to Walt Disney World, I’ll also speak with another listener who gives a first-hand, detailed review of Disney’s Magical Connection, the handheld device currently being tested in the Magic Kingdom. You can learn not only about what the device does and how it works, but hear from a Guest just what they think of the device and technology. And as part of this anniversary show, I will also announce the new project I’ve been working on and alluding to for some time now. It’s going to be released soon, and I wanted to give you the first glimpse at what I have planned. It’s something I’m really excited about, and hope that you’ll enjoy. I won't have time for your emails this week, but as always, stay tuned for the end of the show, where I play a number of your voicemails. So sit back, relax and enjoy this week’s episode of the WDW Radio Show. You can email the show at [email protected] or call the voicemail at 206-202-4WDW (4939). Visit the web site at wdwradio.com.
