The United States Postal Service and the Postal Inspection Service held a news conference in Gastonia on Wednesday to discuss nationwide efforts to crack down on crimes involving mail.  

Phillip Bogenberger with USPS, and Jessica Adams with the Postal Inspection Service, shared promising updates through their new initiative, Project Safe Delivery. Bogenberger said the goal of the program is to combat crime, keep mail carriers safe and ensure the overall security of the American mail system. 

Since 2023, Project Safe Delivery has investigated mail fraud and crimes against postal employees. They also provide tips on how to prevent package theft.
