A program that introduces thousands of fifth through eighth grade students in underserved communities to STEM careers is likely shutting its doors for good.
Starbase Charlotte is losing federal dollars.
Program director Dan Cloninger says that while the House approved the $60 million requested from Starbase, the Senate only approved $20 million.
That allowed the program to run until Jan. 31. Now Starbase Charlotte is operating under a continuing resolution set to expire March 14.
