Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools officials are reassuring families about students' educational rights amid concerns about potential immigration enforcement, emphasizing that all students will continue to receive educational services regardless of immigration status.

In a statement released Monday by the CMS Board of Education, the district stressed its commitment to student safety and education, citing the landmark 1982 Supreme Court case Plyler v. Doe, which established that immigrant students, including those who are undocumented, have a constitutional right to free public education.
