An explosion at a home in Salisbury left at least 12 firefighters hurt on Monday.

The situation began on Laurel Street near North Long Street around 4:56 p.m., according to the Salisbury Police Department. Firefighters arrived and found a heavy fire at a home.

As firefighters worked to extinguish the fire, an explosion happened inside the home. The home's roof collapsed after the explosion. The explosion caused injuries to 11 Salisbury firefighters and one from the East Spencer Fire Department, authorities said.
