There's been a lot of build up to G's final race and, well, he nearly missed it. A plane mechanical and a thunder storm conspired to stop him travelling to Suffolk until 1am last night, but he got there. Thank the lord for that. We'd have had to rip up some big old Watts Occurring plans. Anyway, he rolled out from Woodbridge this morning resplendent in his new INEOS jersey aboard his stunning special edition Pinarello DOGMA F and the Lloyds Tour of Britain was underway. Luke was in the Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale team car calling the shots and his boy Tord Gudmestad nearly pulled off a brilliant stage win. He's also an excellent songwriter. You'll have to listen for that story. There was some incredible fans on the roadside and the boys went through some of their favourites in our new feature Lloyds Upstaged. Pre-Tour de France, a lot of names were thrown around for the top 10. Not many lists had Scotsman Oscar Onley on them. And yet the 22 year old from Kelso enjoyed a breakthrough ride at the world's biggest race. Fourth place overall, with a remarkable eight top-10 finishes, Oscar announced himself on the biggest stage and finished just a minute off the podium. Well, that's that then. G has raced his final ever Tour de France stage. From the youngest man in the race who finished 140th back in 2007, to the 2018 winner, and now the oldest guy in the race. It's been a truly remarkable journey. Yesterday's ride around Paris was G's 282nd Tour stage. Yes, you are reading that correctly.
