Metro Red Line Closures: Summer Construction Upgrades & Shuttle Buses
This summer, a section of the Red Line between North Bethesda and Friendship Heights will close for three months for major construction upgrades. The work includes building a second mezzanine at Bethesda Station, fixing up the platform at Grosvenor-Strathmore, and replacing a key section of track over Rockville Pike. Free shuttle buses will run from stations like Grosvenor-Strathmore, Medical Center, and Bethesda, with local shuttles taking about 48 minutes end to end and express options around 26 minutes. Red Line trains will run every 6 minutes in two separate sections. Plan ahead and check WMATAs site for the latest on routes and alternatives.
