In a dramatic rescue mission, first responders in Nevada saved a climber who fell forty to fifty feet, suffering severe injuries. The climbers partner and a guide controlled bleeding until rescue helicopters arrived. Four officers and a volunteer rappelled down, providing medical care mid-air. The patient was secured in a litter and lowered in three stages. The climber was then transported to a hospital by helicopter and ambulance. Despite a destroyed helmet, its believed the helmet saved the climbers life.
