Tony Award-nominated actress Mary Beth Hurt, known for her Broadway roles and films like The World According to Garp, has passed away at 79. She battled Alzheimers since 2015 and was cared for by her husband, filmmaker Paul Schrader, until his move into her senior living facility in 2023. Hurt, who preferred supporting roles, received three Tony nominations and starred in films alongside Glenn Close and Woody Allen. Her last Broadway role was in 2011.
