Fairfax County police are hunting for a woman involved in a series of jewelry swaps across Chantilly, near Herndon, and Franconia on March twentieth. The scammers, using sleight-of-hand tricks, stole real necklaces and bracelets, leaving victims with fake ones. They arrived in SUVs, posing as friendly strangers to get close and make the switch. One used a birthday excuse for a hug, another asked for directions, and the third used a distraction duo. Victims didnt realize the switch until later, leaving them rattled and jewelry-less. Police linked the crimes to a white 2026 Toyota Highlander from out of state and arrested one suspect, Cristina Milhaela Paun from Baltimore. Investigators are still pursuing leads on the full crew and more reports.
