31-year-old Alexia Zantail Moore from Georgia faces murder charges after allegedly using pills to end her pregnancy, resulting in her newborns death. Moore delivered the baby at around 22-24 weeks gestation in December 2022 and was charged with possessing dangerous drugs, including oxycodone and misoprostol. She obtained the misoprostol online and the oxycodone from a family member. Moore claimed she was only 14 weeks along. Georgia law considers the fetus a person at six weeks, and the county coroner has not ruled the death a homicide. Moores case is now with the district attorney, who needs a grand jury indictment to pursue murder charges. Her lawyer is seeking bond and a quick trial.
