Father Frank tells us about Baby Joseph, a 16-month old child with a debilitating neurological condition. His life could be extended with a simple tracheotomy. Simple solution, right? However, in Canada, where Baby Joseph's family lives, they had to go before a medical board and plea to convince the doctors that their son was worth saving. The doctors ultimately said, "No." After a heated battle, the Canadian hospital finally released the child into the care of an American hospital, where he was promptly treated. This is a true testament to the nature of socialized medicine.
