Liesbeth Helmus schreef over 'De Bentvueghels', over een Nederlands kunstgenootschap in Rome. Een aantal schilders uit Vlaanderen en Nederland trokken in de 17de eeuw naar Rome en vormden daar een eigen clubje, met bijnamen, inwijdingsrituelen en bacchanalen in oude tempels.
