O ciberbullying é o uso dos medios telemáticos (Internet, telefonía móbil e videoxogos online principalmente) para exercer o acoso psicolóxico entre iguais. Por tanto ten que haber menores en ambos os extremos do ataque para que se considere ciberbullying: se hai algún adulto, entón estamos ante algún outro tipo de ciberacoso.
