But hypocrisy isn’t just a bad character trait; rules create the opportunity for hypocrisy to exist in the first place. Far from curing hypocrisy, the rules create hypocrites. And yet, Jesus — the only one with a right to judge anyone — offers us freedom from judgment for our sins.
