Recife Brazil We staan voor de kerk van Onze-Lieve-Vrouw van Smarten, in de wijk Apipucos, ten noorden van Recife. Het kerkje is een bezoek waard, maar we zijn hier omdat op deze plek, in de 17e eeuw, Jerônima de Almeida een suikerplantage runde, terwijl ze weerstand bood tegen de Nederlandse bezetting.
