Pentecost was never meant to be an upper room monument, it was meant to be a global movement.

John 14:27 (TPT) “I leave the gift of peace with you—MY PEACE. Not the kind of fragile peace given by the world, but My perfect peace. Don’t yield to fear or be troubled in your hearts—instead, be courageous!” NKJV, “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Pentecost wasn’t designed to be a one-time spark that we saw in Acts 2 that slowly fades into a memory. It’s meant to be a fire we tend, feed, and grow — a fire that spreads into every corner of our lives and into every place God sends us.

In this powerful message, we're reminded of Jesus' profound words: 'Let not your heart be troubled.' Drawing from John 14, we explore the deep significance of trusting God amidst life's storms. The story of Jesus calming the sea in Mark 4 beautifully illustrates this trust, challenging us to remain peaceful even when circumstances seem dire. We're encouraged to recognize the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, our constant source of peace and strength. This lesson invites us to renew our minds, focusing on God's promises rather than our problems. By doing so, we can cultivate an unshakeable faith that withstands life's trials, becoming a powerful witness to those around us. Let's embrace the peace Christ offers and learn to be 'untroubled in our troubles,' transforming our thought life and deepening our relationship with God.

Community is our Opportunity all hinges on us embracing our purpose as a local congregation; Helping people discover and develop a life in Christ.

Tonight’s talk is titled, Pentecost: Repentance Required If you have your bibles, lets jump into our key text, turn to Acts 2:38

Matthew 5:14-16 (NIV) YOU ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

We remembered how Pentecost wasn’t just an event… it was a turning point. It was the birth of the Church, the coming of the Spirit, and the unleashing of power into everyday believers.

At the end of the day, when it comes to People being are our Purpose, I can’t overstate how important our attitude is. Without the right attitude, it'll be very easy to look past the one God's wanting us to influence.

There’s not a more perfect way to kick off our next “Core Value” Live Like… People are our Purpose, than with baptism Sunday. Today we get the wonderful privilege of celebrating with our church family their bold declaration of faith in Christ with baptism.

Think about it like this, The Great Commission tells us, “go make disciples” and without question, discipleship absolutely includes money, giving, generosity. Jesus is the one who told us, GIVE and it will be given to you…

In this powerful follow-up to “Pentecost: The Forgotten Moment,” we shift our focus from the event to the people—those who responded with obedience, and those who didn’t. Out of 500 who saw the resurrected Jesus, only 120 waited, prayed, and obeyed. These were the Remnant. This is our core verse for today Acts 2:1–4 (NKJV)“When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place… Suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind… and there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire… and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit…”

As we continue through our “Live Like…” series is, we are talking about generosity being a normal part of our lives. GENEROUS— A readiness to GIVE more than necessary. And for the Christian, giving is the nature of our Father. As a matter of fact, I’m sure most of you have either heard or said, “You're acting just like your father”

Let’s remember, at it’s core GENEROSITY is ultimately a heart posture, an attitude about giving.

GENEROSITY is ultimately a heart posture, an attitude about giving. GENEROSITY is our norm is a revelation we’re still growing in as a church, but we’ve definitely made it consistent practice.

Jesus Himself didn’t even start His earthly ministry until the Holy Spirit came upon Him. Think about it, both the public ministry of Jesus in the gospels and the public ministry of the church through the book of Acts began with the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus told us, “these signs will follow them that believe,” we simply have to be open to embracing our new creation. This spiritual reality is for every believer! We are speaking spirits, confined to humanity. And tongues is simple speaking a spiritual language. As a matter of fact Jesus actually told us, “My words are Spirit.”

Serving is our Privilege” simply allows us the opportunity to discover what God will do through anyone willing to be open to their assignment.

The reason “Serving is our Privilege” is we understand that as we offer our lives as a sacrifice to God, He inspires our heart to want to be part of what He’s doing. As a matter of fact, Jesus takes it personal when we serve. “When you’ve done it unto the least of one of these, you’ve done unto Me.”

Jesus repeatedly made this statement, “The Greatest in the Kingdom will be a SERVANT”

Colossians 3:23-24 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Matthew 20:26-27 NIV Whoever, wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave- just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Remember, Spirit within, Spirit upon— Think about it, Jesus is the FIRSTBORN, our example of one born of the Spirit and He’s the one who actually said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me” Don’t forget, Jesus repeatedly talked to His disciples about the Holy Spirit.

Worship is a place we go in the spirit where the people of God not only acknowledge, but reverence God for who He is. And at the end of the day, just like our life of faith, our life of worship, worship becoming our desire, starts with a renewed mind and transformed heart.

Worship is our Desire because; in the words of the apostle Paul, “By the grace of God, I am who I am.” So on our worst day, we still have these new lives Jesus made available for each of us.

Worship is one of the most spiritual things a Christian can take part in. And without question one of the best ways to experience God’s presence in a more tangible way from our human position. Here’s the thing, WORSHIP IS OUR DESIRE, and I realize that it’s not going to be everybody’s desire, but I am presenting to you this morning the opportunity to be a part of where we’re going.

Worship is a spiritual avenue for the people of God to not only acknowledge, but reverence God for who He is. To connect with our Father on a more authentic level.

In “The Live Like Life” there has to be transformation in our thinking for Faith to be our Response. It’s the only way a human can engage in a different dimension, in spiritual living. And believing is the key that unlocks faith.

Ultimately, it’s faith that gives every believer access to God’s world. But like we touched on in our last couple of talks, it’s also why unbelief is so deceptively destructive.

When it comes to Living Like… Faith is our Response, we have to realize that in the scriptures, believing and faith flow together. If we think about it, God not only designed us to live by faith, he actually commanded us to. Seriously, if God makes the same statement 4 times, Habakkuk 2:2, Romans 1:17, Galatians 3:11, Hebrews 10:38, THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH

Here’s the deal, Live Like… Faith is our Response, starts with the understanding that believing and faith go hand in hand.

Please understand, when we talk about being passionate for the Lord, it’s never out of some works approach. Our passion simply grows the better we get to know Him. For example, God is good, Jesus is good, Holy Spirit, good!! And the better we know Him, the clearer this truth becomes. God's plan for His creation hasn't changed. This is why He made us in His image. We're suppose to be an expression of Him. Us in Him, Him in us!

Jesus is our passion is birthed out of a relationship. “He who loves Me” It’s in relationship that He begins to manifest Himself to each of us. In a Live Like… “Jesus is our Passion” life, we have to realize that it is a life-long process of surrender that keeps us open to transformation, by getting to know Jesus.

Colossians 3:1-3 (NKJV) “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.”

John 15:16 (AMP) I have CHOSEN you and I have APPOINTED, placed and purposefully planted you, so that you would go and bear fruit and keep on bearing, and that your fruit will remain and be lasting…

The LIVE LIKE life starts with the revelation of who He is. Get this settled, Our WHY will never have sustaining influence until we get our WHO settled. Colossians 3:1-3,NKJV- “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2, Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3, For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

Colossians 3:1-3 (NLT) Since you HAVE BEEN raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of Heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of Heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.

John 15:11 (NKJV) “THESE THINGS I have spoken to you, that MY JOY may remain in you, and that YOUR JOY may be full.” Joy is a fruit of His nature, spiritual in its origin, a product of Heaven, but it still has to be yielded to. Remember, Ephesians tells us to put on our new man.

Matthew 6:33 (NLT) “Seek the Kingdom of God ABOVE ALL ELSE, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.” If we approach Jesus’ instructions from what Paul tells us in Colossians, when we give our lives to Christ, at that moment God transfers us into the Kingdom of His Son. And having this revelation, one of our priorities is, that we inspire and equip our next generation to embrace the righteous life of God’s Kingdom.

Matthew 6:33 (NLT) “Seek the Kingdom of God ABOVE ALL ELSE, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.” Jesus told His disciples, “Preach the gospel of the Kingdom, telling them the Kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Here’s my prayer, that we inspire and equip our next generation to embrace the righteous life of God’s Kingdom. Let this sink in, the Kingdom of Heaven is designed for complete reliance on the King and His way of ruling. (His Lordship) kingdom, the kings domain.

Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now

Matthew 6:31-33 (AMP) “Therefore do not worry or be anxious (perpetually uneasy, distracted), saying, ‘What are we going to eat?’ or ‘What are we going to drink?’ or ‘What are we going to wear?’ 32, For the [pagan] Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; but do not worry, for your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33, But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness, His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God, and all these things will be given to you also.”

Nehemiah shows us the difference one person can make by simply saying yes to what God puts on their heart. The miraculous is that all the people came together for one purpose. FAITHFUL IN WHATEVER WAS NEEDED. “Find your section of the wall”

One of our biggest takeaways from Nehemiah’s prophetic example is the difference one person can make by simply saying yes to what God puts on their heart.
