Snake envenomations are a common cause for pets to present to veterinarians in Florida and they can be very challenging, and very rewarding, emergency cases to manage. Dr. Carl Southern shares his perspective on pit viper snakebite cases and some of the specific challenges of managing them, including knowing or suspecting when a patient has been bitten by a pit viper, and when to give antivenom and how much.
