Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the World Series MVP, will start for the Los Angeles Dodgers in their season opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks. This is Yamamotos second consecutive opening day start for the Dodgers, who won the championship last season. In his postseason debut last year, Yamamoto allowed one run in five innings and won both of his starts in the World Series. He has a 7-0 record with a 2.25 ERA in ten playoff games. Yamamoto has been a cornerstone for the team with a $325 million, twelve-year contract. In the regular season, he has a 19-10 record with a 2.66 ERA across 48 starts. Yamamoto is one of only three pitchers in history to win both Games Six and Seven in the World Series.
