Show Notes
Lauren Halseys sister dreamer sculpture park, opening this Saturday in South-Central Los Angeles, is a two-decade-long labor of love. The centerpiece features eight twenty-two-foot Egyptian-style columns carved with local heroes, mentors, family members, and sphinxes. The park, filled with neighborhood symbols, fountains, benches, gardens, and native plants, honors the areas past, present, and future, carrying strong feminist themes. Its a rare monument to women and Black culture, praised by local leaders as a space full of restorative energy. The park will host various events through Halseys nonprofit, Summaeverythang Community Center, and might move to a permanent spot by 2027, joining other projects like Destination Crenshaw to boost South Los Angeles as a cultural hub.
