In a dramatic rescue operation, a rock climber sustained a severe lower leg injury near Lantzville. North Shore Rescue, along with Nanaimo Search and Rescue, sprang into action. A helicopter crew, hoist team, and two emergency doctors were dispatched. Despite initial first aid from Nanaimo, one doctor provided additional treatment and meds on site. The injured climber was safely hoisted into the chopper and flown to Nanaimo Airport for further care by B.C. Emergency Health Services paramedics.
