Measles Exposure Alert: Potential Cases at Calgary Airport and Cold Shot Bus Route
Alberta Health has issued a warning about a possible measles exposure, starting at Calgary International Airport and extending to Grande Prairie. On March 10th, an individual with a confirmed measles case was at the airports baggage claim carousel four from 4:45 p.m. to 8:50 p.m. They then boarded a Cold Shot bus, which made stops in Red Deer, Edmonton, and Grande Prairie, exposing passengers along the way.
Those born in 1970 or later with fewer than two doses of the measles vaccine or no history of the disease should check their records. Health teams may request additional steps if they seek medical care. Measles symptoms include high fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a rash three to seven days later. If you experience these symptoms, stay home and call the measles hotline. Health experts urge everyone possibly exposed to monitor their health and get vaccinated if needed to prevent further spread.
