The lower Columbia River saw a surge of anglers this week, with seventy-two salmon boats and fifty-one Washington bank rods spotted from Rocky Point to Bonneville Dam. Despite the effort, catches remained light, with section eight near Longview and section nine at Cathlamet yielding the most steelhead. Tributaries, however, told a different story, with the Cowlitz below Interstate five and upstream seeing significant steelhead catches. Walleye action was slim, but local trout fans received a boost with fifteen hundred rainbow trout stocked into Battle Ground Lake.
