Let’s do some linguistic semantics!In Ep #12 I’m differentiating some things that might superficially look like Value For Value (and may contain some elements of it) but are actually rather different. Subscriptions, paywalls/exclusive content, crowdfunding/donations/tips and everything advertising related all fall under this banner. Are you artificially capping your audience for no good reason?In Ep#11 I’m exploring my personal philosophy with regards to my podcasts, which is that they should be as accessible as possible for everyone who wants to join in. I’ve constantly been surprised by who I attract in, as was Erika from The Balance Theory who also noticed the same phenomena. What is the true value of something?In Ep #9 we are exploring the idea of price discovery and how this can be applied to your product, idea, show, podcast, art, etc etc. When you allow someone to choose for themselves the value, you might be surprised at how high they will set that limit (as long as you are asking them to choose and think about it). Why can having permanent funds can alienate you from your support?In Ep #8 I was inspired by a passage I read in M.K Gandhi\'s autobiography on why having a reliable, permanently fixed and disconnected source of funds can actually be bad for you. It can make you lose touch with the public support that is essential to fulfilling your real, deeper, higher purpose. I recount some personal experiences trying to give value to people who deserve it but had an annoying time doing this. There is always a cost, so how are you paying it? In Ep #4 I examine the topic of free, first taking a dive into the definition of the word and how we can get confused about objects/services that appear to be financially ‘free’. There seems to be a problem with scale where a company as it grows larger will inevitably focus upon money as its primary goal (not a great motive) and the cost that a customer pays can get hidden (lack of transparency). In Ep #3 we're going to examine a practical example of giving value? Before I ever heard of the Value 4 Value model I was reviewing random podcasts and leaving them a nice message. This was influenced by a kind message I received during my first 3 months of podcasting and was an opportunity for me to pay that forward. I eventually turned this into a strategic way to create a community and I ended up receiving rewards for this in totally unexpected manners.
