5 Things We’ve Never Done, But Want To Do, At Walt Disney World - WDW Opinion Ep. 52 I think it’s safe to say no one person has ever been able to experience every single offering Disney World has. It’s probably impossible to do so. All the attractions and shows are one thing but think about all the dining experiences you would need to have. And then factor in all the other extras you could do. From recreation, resorts to explore and areas you’ve probably never heard of, there’s a lot of things you’ve most likely have never experienced at Disney. But that’s part of the reason why we keep going back. There’s always something experience that you never have gotten to before. Whether it’s a new attraction or an old classic you’ve never gotten around to, it’s tough to complete the full Disney checklist. We love riding our favorites trip after trip but, throwing in something we’ve never done before is a great way to keep Disney fresh. In today’s segment, Hank and I are going to discuss our top five things we’ve never experienced but really want to at Disney World. We probably have some surprises in here for you so let's see what round out our top five. Ep 51Our Top 5 Favorite Walt Disney World Attractions - WDW Opinion Ep. 51
Our Top 5 Favorite Walt Disney World Attractions - WDW Opinion Ep. 51 Everyone’s got their favorites. A fun conversation to have, or argument depending upon if it gets to that level, is ranking the best Disney World attractions. What the best attractions are is one thing but what your own personal favorite Dinsey attractions are, well that’s an entirely different story. Sometimes you like a ride because of the experience you have on it, the way it makes you feel, sometimes you like it because of the technological advancements it features, or the story it tells. And sometimes it’s because of the memories you have associated with it. There are reasons abound but everyone should have a list of their favorites. In today’s episode, Hank will be sharing his top 5 favorite attractions and I’ll be sharing my top five favorite attractions. Ep 50Is a Regional Theme Park in Ohio Better Than Disney World? - WDW Opinion Ep. 50
Is a Regional Theme Park in Ohio Better Than Disney World? - WDW Opinion Ep. 50 24 miles northeast of Cincinnati lies a 364 acre park. Some of it buried deep in the forest, some of it basking in the humid Ohio sun. It claims several thousand less acres than Disney World's 30 thousand and the 1,100 that make up its four amusement parks (meanwhile much larger than Disneyland's 85). It’s home to natives, coaster junkies, and regional tourists looking for the next big thrill. It’s Kings Island. Kings Island’s history begins back in 1971 and has ebbed and flowed far more times that it may have desired – passing from taft broadcasting to Paramount and today to Cedar Fair group. But today – it’s home to 100 attractions, 14 coasters and even a 33 acre waterpark – this Hank’s hometown park. Kings Island. Ep 49Old Key West Resort Review - WDW Opinion Ep. 49
Old Key West Resort Review - WDW Opinion Ep. 49 The Polynesian. The Grand Floridian. The Contemporary. The Boardwalk. Even the smallest Disney fan knows these resorts. They’re among the most popular at Disney World and for good reason. But not too many people in the real world realize that there are over 20 Disney owned and operated resorts on property. I’ve said it before during other resort reviews but, part of the fun of a Disney trip is getting to experience different resorts. Especially when you go frequently, changing up the resort you stay at can bring a whole new vacation experience to the table. But staying at different resorts is also a great form of escapism. Each resort has its own theme, its own atmosphere and its own story. When you stay at different resorts you get to experience all sorts of different places in time and places in the world depending upon their theme. And many travelers don’t know that Disney offers a wide variety of hotel accommodations outside the traditional two bed one bath hotel rooms you can find anywhere. Our resort today, Old Key West, hits both of these elements. It transports you to the laid back mentality of the Florida Keys and offers many room sizes to fit any party. I recently had the chance to stay at Old Key West and I’m excited to give a review of it. Plus, big changes are coming to Future World in Epcot and Disney is launching some new transportation offerings. All that and more on this episode of WDW Opinion. The Mistakes You Make On a Disney World Trip and How to Avoid Them - WDW Opinion Ep. 48 When it comes to planning, there’s so much that goes into a Disney World trip. Ep 47How to Enjoy a Trip to Disney World in the Summer - WDW Opinion Ep. 47
How to Enjoy a Trip to Disney World in the Summer - WDW Opinion Ep. 47 I go to Disney World a lot. Some might say I have a problem. While no doctor has ever been able to diagnose my issues it is safe to say that I find myself not wanting but needing to go back to Disney as often as possible. So often other people will say to me “don’t you get sick of that place”. Of course, I just shrug off that question because it really comes from a place of ignorance. Saying I would get sick after only going once is depriving Disney World of all it has to offer you. You can’t experience this place in one trip. And on top of that even if you could, Disney World offers you the opportunity to experience it in different ways. Whether it be by staying at different resorts, going during different times of the year or by going with different party sizes and makeup. There are so many things to see and do and it’s constantly changing. That’s why each trip is so unique because yes the place is the same but the time is always different. The changes, the experiences and the opportunities to have new sights to see and ways to travel are just a few of the reasons I keep going back. And I’m sure it’s a few of the reasons Hank goes back as well. This segment of the podcast will be part trip report and part lively discussion between Hank and myself. I’m breaking down my trip to share my thoughts on the current state of the parks. It’s my five big takeaways from my June 2019 trip. Plus, we have a new game where Hank vividly describes things I’ve purchased at Disney World. We discuss the Epcot entrance which has seen some recent changes. Annual pass prices have gone up so we’re discussing what that all means and how Disney might be putting a premium on flexible visits to Disney World. All that and more on this episode of WDW Opinion. Ep 45Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Episode III: Its Opening Week - WDW Opinion Ep. 45
Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Episode III: Its Opening Week - WDW Opinion Ep. 45 By the time you’re listening to this podcast Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at the Disneyland theme park will be well into its second week of operation. This is a moment we’ve been waiting for, for years now. In fact you could say we’ve even been waiting for this since 2012 when Disney acquired Lucasfilm and the Star Wars properties from George Lucas. Now the land itself was first publicly announced in 2015 at D23 it feels like its taken longer than that to get it up and running. Next, to the opening of Disneyland in 1955 and the opening of Walt Disney World in 1971, this might be the biggest Disney theme park opening ever. There’s still plenty to come, in fact not only are we waiting for the Orlando version to open in Hollywood Studios at the end of the Summer but we’re also still waiting for the premier attraction in Rise of the Resistance to open in Disneyland. In previous episodes, we’ve brought you our Star Wars Saga which we will now continue today. So get ready for Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Episode III: Its Opening Week. We have to, of course, preface this by saying neither of us has been out to Disneyland yet to see this land so today we’re really just going to tell you to want we’re hearing about the grand opening of the land. The pros and cons and what we’re most looking forward to now that we can see inside the land. Plus, Hollywoods Studios looks to be getting a change in their FP+ tier system and we share our thoughts on the new Summer One World Ticket coming to Disney World. Ep 44These Are the Ways to Save Money for a Walt Disney World Trip - WDW Opinion Ep. 44
These Are the Ways to Save Money for a Walt Disney World Trip - WDW Opinion Ep. 44 A Disney World vacation is expensive. That’s not a controversial topic it’s just a fact. Most vacations are expensive no matter where you go. Sure Disney might be on another level but Disney World is on another level when it comes to a vacation experience. But there are a lot of things to pay for when it comes to a Disney trip. Obviously, the transportation and the hotel can be the most expensive but tickets can get up there too. Then you factor in dining, souvenirs and a whole list of other miscellaneous items and it adds up quickly. Just like I preach about having a strategy when it comes to your park days and vacation itself I also think it’s important to have a strategy when it comes to a Disney vacation budget. Keeping your eye on it before and during the trip can relieve you of a lot of headache and stress once you return home. Ep 43Top Things to Do Outside the Theme Parks at Disney World - WDW Opinion Ep. 43
Top Things to Do Outside the Theme Parks at Disney World - WDW Opinion Ep. 43 I’m sure I sound like a broken record at this point but I’ll start this segment off by saying one of my favorite phrases. Disney World really is a World unto itself. There’s so much to do outside of the parks there even. Often our trips get bogged down running from one attraction to the next and we spend the majority of our time within the walls of one of the theme parks. But there’s so much to see, do and experience outside of the parks. Some you probably have heard of before while others might be a new experience for you. But either way, this segment is dedicated to all the best things to do around Disney property that don’t require theme park admission. Plus, we discuss new food items coming to Artist Point and Be Our Guest, we catch a first glimpse of the Epcot Skyliner Gondola Station and the newly re-imagined Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland and we start spreading some theme park rumors. Ep 42What Disney's Movie Schedule Means for the Parks - WDW Opinion Ep. 42
What Disney's Movie Schedule Means for the Parks - WDW Opinion Ep. 42 Sometimes as Hank and I geek out about the latest in plastic bracelet technology or as we salivate over theme park operating hours it’s easy for us to forget that Disney really is a film company. That’s right for every robot bear they’ve created they have a dozen movies to show for it. And while this is a theme park-centric podcast it’s important to go back to Disney’s roots from time to time. After all, film really is the reason they are so successful today. Their film success is also why their theme parks are so successful too. It’s all about storytelling but it’s also about Disney’s ability to create incredible film characters that then can fit so perfectly into a theme park. Their theme parks are a gateway for you to enter into your favorite films. Just a few days ago Disney released their upcoming film slate for the next eight or so years. There’s still plenty of gaps, unknowns and yet to be announced projects but one thing is certain. Disney is in no way, shape or form slowing down when it comes to content creation. Whether it be Disney animation, Disney live action, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and Lucasfilm or anything coming from the newly acquired Fox, Disney has some huge releases that will be created in the years to come. Intellectual Property or IP continues to find its way into the parks now more than ever. But with the new slate of Disney owned films, how will that affect the parks. What characters, franchises and stories will make their way into the parks and how will it reshape current entities already there. It’s time to daydream because in this segment will be giving our 2 cents, whatever that’s worth, on what we think will change in the parks based on upcoming films. It should be a rather interesting discussion. Plus, Disney is giving resort guests more options when selecting thier Magic Bands and this Fall brings a huge new perk to resort guests in the form or more Extra Magic Hours Stories discussed in News to Opinion New MagicBand Upgrade Options Coming Soon at Walt Disney World Resort New Extra, Extra Magic Hours Daily at Walt Disney World Resort Theme Parks Includes Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios All the Disney-Fox movie release dates through 2027 See the schedule we discussed in the main segment here. Ep 41All Star Movies Resort Review - WDW Opinion Ep. 41
All Star Movies Resort Review - WDW Opinion Ep. 41 There are so many places to stay on Disney property. When you go there a lot it’s always fun to pick a new place to stay. Where you stay really helps to determine what type of trip you have. You’re staying at the poly? Then you’ll probably be headed to the Magic Kingdom a lot. Maybe you’re at the Yacht Club so you can walk into Epcot. Perhaps you have a room at Port Orleans Riverside so you can hop on a boat to Disney Springs every night. Whatever it is, it will surely be a different trip depending upon where you stay. Of course the categories of Deluxe, Moderate and Value play a big part in that as well. Recently I got the chance to stay at All Star Movies in one of the newly renovated rooms. While it has a Value price tag the lines between resort levels are beginning to blur. Ep 40The Top Tech Tips & Must Haves For A Disney Trip - WDW Opinion Ep. 40
The Top Tech Tips & Must Haves For A Disney Trip - WDW Opinion Ep. 40 A few years back, Disney tried to revolutionize the vacation experience and in many ways, My Disney+ and My Disney Experience have done just that. Unlike other places, Disney embraces change. While you can get upset about the limitations of their tech, which a lot of it has, you can’t fault them for revolutionizing an industry. In this episode, we’ll be breaking down the apps and tech tips you need to know to make your vacation more enjoyable. Ep 39Why Homecomin’ Is Disney Springs Best Restaurant - WDW Opinion Ep. 39
Why Homecomin’ Is Disney Springs Best Restaurant - WDW Opinion Ep. 39 One of the best parts about the Disney Springs transformation is all the new and unique dining opportunities it has brought. We knew we were going to be getting a lot of new restaurants but the caliber of cuisine I think has taken many by surprise. One of our personal favorites is Art Smith’s Homecomin’. It’s old fashion southern comfort food with a twist here or there. While it isn’t directly owned by Disney in some ways it is perfectly Disney. The name Homecomin’ has multiple meanings for celebrity chef Art Smith. For one he’s from Florida and while he’s cooked all over this is him making a return to his home state. Two he’s cooking the food he grew up with and three it’s a homecoming because Art Smith got his start on the Disney College Program. It’s a restaurant with good food, good atmosphere and a story fit for Disney. While I have been several times, Hank was able to go again just the other day. Which means it’s a perfect opportunity to do a dining review of one of our favorite places to eat. Plus, we discuss the offerings coming to Hollywood Studios’ 30th-anniversary celebration, we dive into some Skyliner Gandola news and we roast the Central Florida theme park injury report All that and more on this episode of WDW Opinion. Ep 35Are We Supposed to Hate These Disney World Attractions? - WDW Opinion Podcast Ep. 35
Are We Supposed to Hate These Disney World Attractions? - WDW Opinion Podcast Ep. 35 Last week we discussed the rides we’re supposed to love at Disney World. While recording that episode we realized that the classics, while old and somewhat outdated are still worth loving. They're the rides that just hold up. Call it great storytelling or just Disney doing what Disney does best, either way, for the most part, the rides were supposed to love, we do love. But what about the flip side of that coin. Are there Disney World attractions that we’re supposed to hate? Probably so. In fact, many park-goers are quick to label certain attractions as not being worth the time spent in line. When it comes to theme parks, Disney is the best in the business. No doubt about it. But no one is perfect. There are definitely a few bumps in the road when it comes to attractions built by Disney over the years. But there are also attractions that people label as bad because they aren’t taller, faster or more technologically advanced. Disney has a diverse selection of attractions. Which is great! But some who want pure roller coasters are quick to label anything else as lame. Which brings us to our discussion this week. What are the Disney World attractions were supposed to hate? We’ll discuss what we picked, why we picked them and if we actually dislike them. We’re probably going to upset some people this week on WDW Opinion. Plus we discuss the Disney Walk Around the World Bricks are going to the wayside, a new restaurant is coming to the France pavilion in Epcot and we share our Disney legend of the month. All that and more on this episode of WDW Opinion. Ep 34The Disney World Rides You’re Supposed to Love - WDW Opinion Ep. 34
The Disney World Rides You’re Supposed to Love - WDW Opinion Ep. 34 A couple weeks ago I posted a photo on Facebook and Instagram. It was of the entrance to it’s a small world. Now this is an iconic attraction for sure but I posed a question in my caption. Do we actually hate it’s a small world or do we really just love to hate it. The response we got was overwhelming. Almost 250 comments later and I realized that the vast majority of people really actually love that ride. It’s funny because that doesn’t always seem to be the case when it comes to classic attractions. Nowadays more than ever Disney attractions are getting bigger, faster, better themed and overall throwing you into areas you’ve never experienced before. It’s an interesting comparison when you have a ride like it’s a small world just down the road from something like AVATAR Flight of Passage. Both are loved by many but for completely different reasons. So this whole line of questioning got us thinking. What are the attractions we are supposed to love? Why are we supposed to love them? And when it comes right down to it, do we actually love it? It’s going to be an interesting discussion we’ll be having this week on WDW Opinion. Plus we discuss the new menu coming to Whispering Canyon Cafe, permits have been filed that will radically change the way Epcot looks, we discuss ticket prices at Disney World, in the main segment we share what attractions we are supposed to love and at the very end of the show we have a big WDW Opinion announcement that you won’t want to miss. Ep 30WDW Opinion Ep. 30 - Our Ultimate Day at Walt Disney World
WDW Opinion Ep. 30 - Our Ultimate Day at Walt Disney World A few weeks ago we told you about a new tour coming to Walt Disney world. The 12 hour tour could accommodate up to six guests and would run $12,000. We questioned the reasoning behind it as it was made to seem like a simple VIP tour with unlimited FastPass+ and the ability to eat anywhere on Disney Property. For that alone the price is not worth it at all. But we are slowly starting to hear that the way Disney was describing the tour was merely just options you could select from. What this tour actually is, is an open book of sorts. Meaning if you ever wanted to experience something at Disney World or do something at Disney World that is typically off limits then this is the tour where Disney could make it happen for you. Maybe you’ve always wanted to get a tour backstage or walk through an attraction before it opens, maybe you even want to meet a certain Disney Cast Member. This tour can make almost anything happen, within reason and time constraints. Once booked Disney will work with you to try and get all of your requests squared away. This got us thinking, what would our ultimate Disney Day be? If we could, what would we do to take advantage of this tour. How would we break it out and what events would our ultimate Disney day consist of? That’s what we’re going to share in this segment. Plus we discuss some new offerings and deals at Disney Springs, Frozen 2 gets a teaser trailer and we celebrate the Disney legend of the month. All that and more on this episode of WDW Opinion. Ep 29WDW Opinion Ep. 29 - How Many Days Do You Need for a Perfect Disney World Trip?
WDW Opinion Ep. 29 - How Many Days Do You Need for a Perfect Disney World Trip? 47 square miles. That’s twice the size of the island of Manhattan. It’s also the size of Walt Disney World property. Now currently only ⅓ of that land is actually developed but, that still leaves quite a vast expanse to explore. Home to four theme parks, two water parks, over 20 resort hotels, the gigantic Disney Springs shopping, dining and entertainment district and so much more, there is plenty to see and do at Walt Disney World. Listen there’s simply no way to see and do it all in any one trip to Disney World. It doesn’t matter how long you stay either. Take it from me. I lived there for a year and in the years when I haven’t lived there I’ve made nearly 30 separate trips to the house of the mouse and there are still plenty of things I haven’t ever seen or experienced. It’s not shocking that one of the most frequent questions I get asked by people is how many days should we go to Disney World? What they actually mean is how many days does it take to do and see it all. That questions is impossible to answer. So what’s the perfect amount of days for a Disney trip? That too is an unanswerable question. There’s no uniform this is how many days you should go. Each person is different and because of this there’s no one size fits all trip. Your budget, how many days you can be away from home and work and what you’re looking to get out of the experience will determine what kind of trip you will have. For this segment rather than Hank and I just giving you one answer we’re going to break it down by days. We’ll tell you what to do with one, two, three, four and all the way up to seven days. Along the way we will share the best itineraries for each amount of days and we’ll end up at a conclusion of what we might recommend trip wise. Plus a fastpass+ loophole is closed, we express our discontent with the cupcake fad and we share our unpopular Disney World opinions. Ep 28WDW Opinion Ep. 28 - Sanaa at the Animal Kingdom Lodge Dining Review
WDW Opinion Ep. 28 - Sanaa at the Animal Kingdom Lodge Dining Review I will continue to say it for as long as this podcast is a thing, Disney World is a world unto itself. It’s like its own independent city and there are so many things outside of the parks that Disney World has to offer. Attractions aside the food you can indulge in is something that makes Disney World so unique. There are the popular choices like Be Our Guest, Ohana, Le Cellier, Cinderella’s Royal Table that people are dying to get to. And then there are locations that may be off the beaten path. One of our favorite restaurants on Disney property is Sanaa. It’s a fan favorite that is still considered an underappreciated place. On this episode we are going to give our review of and share why we love Sanaa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani Village. Ep 26WDW Opinion Ep. 26 - Coronado Springs Resort Walking Tour
WDW Opinion Ep. 26 - Coronado Springs Resort Walking Tour Right now Coronado Springs is undergoing massive change. At this point most if not all of the guest rooms have been renovated. But there is still plenty of work to be done at the resort. Its newest edition, the Destino Tower will be opening this July and will bring with it 545 new guest rooms. It’s going to be a massive new addition and completely change the resort. But right now it can be more of a hindrance to the guest as it is being built. Hank and I recently got the opportunity to stay at the resort. We had just stayed at the Pop Century Resort where we gave a walking tour so we decided to take a walking tour of Coronado as well. On it we discussed the construction, what it will mean for the future of the resort and we share what we like and don’t like about the place. Ep 25WDW Opinion Ep. 25 - Star Wars Galaxy's Edge Episode I: What We Know So Far
For years now we have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. It is pegged to be a truly revolutionary land and will bring in attractions, atmosphere and technologies that will launch a new era in theme parks. While we are only months away from the opening of the land in Disneyland and a little bit further away from the opening in Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World, we are still unaware of most of the things that will be in the land. So that’s what we wanted to do here today. Discuss everything that we know so far, including some details WDW Opinion has stumbled across that haven’t made their rounds to the general public yet. Just like the films that inspired this land we anticipate having multiple “episodes” of the podcast that discuss further details in the months to come. Last week we took you on a walking tour of the grounds and this week we are giving you our full review of the property. We will be discussing the rooms, ambiance and overall amenities of the resort. Ep 20WDW Opinion Ep. 20 - Pop Century Resort Walking Tour
WDW Opinion Ep. 20 - Pop Century Resort Walking Tour I love wandering through Disney World. It’s the best way to discover new things when it comes to the parks. But when it comes to the resorts, wandering and going for a stroll can be one of the most peaceful things you can do on Disney property. Hank and I recently stayed at the Pop Century resort during a trip and while we will have a full review coming shortly for this episode we wanted to take you on a stroll of the property. We recorded it while we were down there and we hope it helps transport you to the House of the Mouse. On our stroll we talk about the resort, the size and scale of it, review a little of its history and discuss what’s coming down the pike for it. Ep 19WDW Opinion Ep. 19 - Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party
WDW Opinion Ep. 19 - Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas party is an after-hours event that takes place on select nights in November and December. For us it is the perfect representation of Disney parks at their finest. It’s a great opportunity to experience classic rides and characters with little to no wait while also experiencing special entertainment you won’t find during regular operating hours. Hank and I had the opportunity to attend one of the first Very Merry Christmas parties this year and we wanted to share our thoughts and opinions on it. Hopefully, this info can help if you're still deciding on whether or not you want to attend this event. We’re all about the Christmas cookies today on WDW Opinion. Ep 18WDW Opinion Ep. 18 - The Circles of Disney Hell
WDW Opinion Ep. 18 - The Circles of Disney Hell A Disney World vacation is magical, fun, and sometimes even awe-inspiring. It can elicit all sorts of incredible emotions and the end of a trip only leaves you wanting more. But we’d be lying if we didn’t say there were some unmagical parts about Disney trips. Whether it’s certain attractions, shows, character interactions or even restaurants or food items, something you want to avoid like the plague during your Disney trip. As we record this it is Halloween which got us thinking about some spooky things. The underworld in particular and what that might look like for us Disney fans. God forbid we do ever go there but, if we do what would the Disney underworld look like? What experiences would we have to relive over and over and over again? The Disney things that would be pure torture. This week we’re going to hell, and not the one you experience in Mr. Toad’s wild ride, no. We’re on our way to Disney hell. Plus, we discuss new food offerings come to the International Festival of the Holidays at Epcot, Luxo Jr comes to Pixar Pier in California and we start spreading some theme park rumors. Ep 17WDW Opinion Ep. 17 - How to Get in a Disney Trip State of Mind
WDW Opinion Ep. 17 - How to Get in a Disney Trip State of Mind For obsessive Disney World fans, time can be measured in one of two ways. Time spent at Disney World and time spent elsewhere. But both of those ways can be fun if you have the right mindset. In reality, a trip to Disney World requires the proper state of mind. Both when it comes to knowing how to execute your plans and knowing how to enjoy the place once you’re there. For die-hard fans like Hank and myself, the leading up to and planning of a trip can bring just as much enjoyment as actually going on the trip. But there is only so much anticipation one can bear. Passing the time from one Disney trip to the next can feel like an eternity. But once you have that next trip planned there are so many things you can do to get ready for it. And then when you head back home are ways to keep the Disney state of mind too. In this segment, we are going to give you ways to prepare your mind for Disney and keep your mind that way after you return. It’s all about having Disney on your mind this week on WDW Opinion. Plus we discuss a new Pin related event coming to the Animal Kingdom, Disney files a new patent for Guardians of the Galaxy and we go in-depth on the latest Disney resort hotel announcement Stories discussed in News to Opinion New PinQuest Limited-Time Event Being Offered at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park Disney Patents New Rotating Car Technology for Guardians of the Galaxy Roller Coaster at Epcot In-Depth Discussion Disney Confirms Plans to Build New Resort Hotel on Old River Country Grounds Learn more about Disney's former water park, River Country, here. Ep 16WDW Opinion Ep. 16 - Power Rankings: The Mountain Attractions of Walt Disney World
WDW Opinion Ep. 16 - Power Rankings: The Mountain Attractions of Walt Disney World Sometimes a good idea just sticks. And sometimes that good idea is so cool that it builds a theme. For Disney, their good idea came in the form of a legendary Swiss mountain and decades later, with rides all over the world I think it is safe to say that the Mountain attraction idea Disney came up with has stuck as a pretty awesome theme. In fact, there are 19 mountains across the world in Disney parks. Including 4 Big Thunder Mountains, 3 Splash Mountains, 5 Space Mountains, a Mt. Prometheus, a Mt. Gushmore, a Mt. Mayday and a Forbidden Mountain to name a few. We could talk about all of them and why they are great but for this episode, Hank and I will be discussing the mountains of Walt Disney World. We will do an overview of each, discuss what we like and what we don’t like and then we will each give our power rankings of the mountains. Plus on this episode, we discuss our News to Opinion stories of the week and we remember a lost Magic Kingdom attraction. Ep 15WDW Opinion Ep. 15 - The Monorail Bar Crawl
WDW Opinion Ep. 15 - The Monorail Bar Crawl You know I say this all the time. Disney World is great because it really is a whole world unto itself. When you have been going for as long as I have you start to love things other than the e-ticket attractions. The details, the food, the beverages and even hopping around from resort to resort. In fact, I think one of the best things to do is resort hop. And the best tour for resort hopping I think is the monorail crawl. Each resort stop on the monorail offers a unique and totally different vibe and feel when compared to the others. The Contemporary, Polynesian and Grand Floridian have become the flagship resorts for Walt Disney World and the best part about them is you don’t have to stay there to fully appreciate them. One of the best ways to experience them is actually to hop from bar to bar and lounge to lounge. The Monorail Bar Crawl lets you see the sights while also having a few tasty beverages. So, por favor manténgase alejado de las puertas, because we are Monorail crawling this week on WDW Opinion. Ep 14WDW Opinion Ep. 14 - Our 47 Favorite Things About Magic Kingdom
This past week marked the 47th anniversary of Magic Kingdom’s opening and with it the de facto 47th anniversary of Walt Disney World itself. What started as a sort of replica of Disneyland has taken on a life of its own and in its 47 years, it has become the most popular theme park and one of the most popular destinations in the entire world. Over 20 million guests pass through Magic Kingdom turnstiles each and every year. There are so many things to love about this place and its size and scope is certainly one of them. Rather than do a top 10 or what have you we decided to discuss our 47 favorite things about the Magic Kingdom. Ep 13WDW Opinion Ep. 13 - Why We Love Pandora the World of Avatar
WDW Opinion Ep. 13 - Why We Love Pandora the World of Avatar There are so many reasons we love Disney World. And when asked to explain why you love it you often use words like fun, magical, cool and awesome. While all those words work, what really makes Disney World so great and the main reasons Hank and I love it so much is because of the specifics. The details and the items that make up the World are the reason we love it so. That’s the purpose of this segment. To go land by land, attraction by attraction, resort by resort and break down why we love each of these places so. Our first focus with this segment has to do with a land that while it hasn’t been here for too long is already one of our favorites. Ep 12WDW Opinion Ep. 12 - Full House Goes to Disney World
WDW Opinion Ep. 12 - Full House Goes to Disney World Welcome to 1993! May 11, 1993 to be exact. Which was when part one of Full House’s trip to Disney World aired. The gang from San Francisco wasn’t the only TV family who visited the house of mouse in the 90s either. In fact one of Disney’s best marketing tools in this era was welcoming TV shows who would film episodes of their characters visiting the Disney parks. Shows like Blossom, Family Matters, Roseanne, Boy Meets World and Sabrina the Teenage Witch all had Disney centric episodes. And while some were better than others the one that sticks out the most to Hank and I is the Full House episode. Which is why we’re reviewing it first. We’ll be asking whatever happened to predictability, the milkman, the paperboy, the evening TV, today on WDW Opinion. Plus we also talk about IllumiNations coming to an end, Splash Mountain gets a new sponsor and we lament about 19 new things coming to Disney World in 2019. Ep 9WDW Opinion Ep. 9 - FastPass+ Tips and Tricks
WDW Opinion Ep. 9 - FastPass+ Tips and Tricks In 1999 Disney released a new technology that revolutionized the theme park going experience. The virtual queuing system known as FastPass, pegged the simple question “what if you could reserve your ride time?” What came of that question was a tool that has now been implemented in almost every major theme park theme park in some form or another. But in 2013 the FastPass system Disney park fans had come to know and love would be changed forever. With the advent of My Magic Plus and My Disney Experience, Disney began to take a technology first approach to much of the daily routines the average theme park guest would encounter. This meant giving guests the ability to book FastPassess months in advance and change, edit and adjust reservations on the fly from the convenience of their smartphone. Love it or hate it FastPass+ is here to stay. Rather than complain you should embrace this incredible tool and use it to its full potential. In this segment Hank and I will be giving you tips, tricks and tactics you can use to get the most out of FastPass+. By the end of this you’ll be a pro when it comes to reserving rides and you’ll be leaving other guests in the dust when it comes to experience the attractions you want to.
