Gunman Killed by ROTC Students at Old Dominion University; Early Release Suspected
Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, a former Army National Guard specialist, opened fire in a classroom at Old Dominion University, Virginia, on Thursday. ROTC students quickly subdued and killed him. Jalloh had been released from federal prison in 2019 after serving time for supporting the Islamic State group. He pleaded guilty in 2016 to providing material support to the terrorist organization and was sentenced to eleven years. Despite his terrorism conviction, he qualified for an early release program and was on supervised release until 2029. Jalloh had tried donating $500 to ISIS and attempted to buy an assault rifle. Lawmakers and investigators are questioning his early release and the circumstances leading to the attack.
