Protestant Reformation 500th Anniversary Celebration - Steve Justice - November 5th, 2017 Verses: Romans 1:16-17 Romans 3:21-25 Ephesians 2:8-9 Romans 11:36 Notes: -Martin Luther saw the Word as inconsistent with teachings from the Catholic Church -He went from hating righteousness to loving it -He believed scripture was ABOVE ALL -He was labeled a heretic -He challenged the Catholic Church on their beliefs,teachings, etc and was kicked out -He began preaching the Word of God(He preached over 6,000 sermons in 24 yrs) -Reformed churches became places where people came to hear the Word of God preached; it changed their lives -5 themes from Luther: 1)scripture alone (is our Authority) 2)grace alone (by God) 3)faith alone (from God) 4)Christ alone (only way) 5)Glory of God (It’s ALL about Him)
