It's March 9,1992 when 20-year-old Amy Hooper is found brutally murdered in her Columbus, Ohio apartment. Investigators gather evidence from the crime scene, including a symbolic medallion, as well as DNA evidence. Unable to match the DNA to a individual, police are left waiting for advancements in modern day forensic genealogy before they can identify a suspect.
