Some guests come on to promote something. KB came on to confess something. Kahonukai Boro, lead singer of IMVA, has been living inside the world of Michael Jackson since before he could explain it. Fedora to elementary school. Gold compilation CDs on repeat in the Honda CRV. A 12-minute mock rock performance at the Paso Fairgrounds that ended in cardiac arrest. And then, on the table at Children's Hospital LA, waiting for surgery, he looked up and saw Michael Jackson's signature on artwork donated to the very walls around him. That is not a coincidence. That is a calling.
In this conversation, KB and Adam dig into what it actually takes to build a living as a musician on the Central Coast, how IMVA learned the power of saying no, and what it means to dedicate an entire night of music to one artist with zero originals, zero safety nets, and everything on the line. KB also performed "Butterflies" live in the studio, and honestly, clear your schedule because you are going to want to rewind it.
