He’s arrested but God restores him in prison. He is a chaplain and counselor to addicts before he dies of cancer.</p>

<p>James, one of ten children, never goes to church, quits school at 14 and learns to drink with his brothers. He has many accidents and nearly dies. He marries Wanda, whose mother dislikes his drinking but takes him to revival where he is saved. He makes restitution for stealing and serves the LORD the rest of his life. His wife leaves once but returns. He and daughter, Jean, start a ministry to teens that is still going strong. After Wanda’s death, James writes Christian articles for a newspaper. He writes until 2009 he dies of cancer at age 96.</p>

<p>Robert supports missionaries in India before he goes there as a missionary, paying his own way. There he builds a prayer tower, a children’s home and digs a well for various villages. On his second trip a cobra bites him, but he continues his preaching and feeding people. On his third trip he gets cholera. His fourth trip is his last. Then he meets and marries Kathy.</p>

<p>We go back in time to hear prophetic scripture from the Old Testament that foretell the coming of Messiah according to God’s planning and foreknowledge. <p>Raised by his maternal grandmother and mama, Stephen prays at 12 but fear of peer rejection leads him to backslide. A fast runner, he excels at track in high school. But he steals and is caught; then racial tension and prejudice keep him unnerved. He hears the gospel but refuses to accept Christ. He goes to college but quits the track team, smokes pot and drinks too much. A man shares the gospel with him and he prays for salvation. He reads the Bible but still waffles. The first part ends as he makes a commitment to follow Christ.</p>

<p>Craig continues to study scripture with Mark until their son is born. Afterward he and Lauri meet for Bible study with Mark. They even go to a church service. Then Craig’s beloved grandfather dies and he is too devastated to think about eternity. Mark finally calls and confronts Craig, who makes a decision for Christ. Lauri, too, is saved. Craig begins reaching out to other Jews through churches, and eventually leaves his law profession to a full-time ministry to Jews and Christians.</p>

<p>Craig wants answers and doesn’t get them in Hebrew School, so he drops out, then wants to make Bar Mitzvah and does, thanks to a rabbi’s help. His parents divorce but his maternal grandpa upholds him. He meets Lauri, goes to college and they marry while he’s in law school. She’s Catholic but they agree to study the Bible. When a colleague at work tells Craig about Jesus and points out the flaws in Catholic teaching, Lauri becomes an apostate as the first part ends.</p>

<p>David’s parents divorce when he is nine. His dad is a violent drunk, and David begins drinking and using drugs in elementary school. His mother puts him in a psychiatric center at 13. He repeatedly goes into rehab. He believes in God, tries church at 17, marries out of guilt and then turns against God when his wife leaves him for another man. He marries again at 19, and they have a son. But David can’t control his drinking. Drunk driving leads to jail. His dad dies of cancer before David can show love, leading to guilt. He and his brother quarrel and David stabs him as the first part ends.</p>

<p>Floyd has polio at age four leaving him with a stutter. He runs away from home at five, finding friends who teach him to smoke. Rebellious, he does poorly at school, is held back repeatedly and finally is expelled at 16 in the 7th grade. He marries at 20; the Depression hits, and he drinks and gambles. After a fight with his dad, he looks at his life and wants God. He drives his wife and son 80 miles on a gallon of gas to hear a preacher he’s heard on the radio and is saved.</p>

<p>Tom serves as a missionary in the Philippines where he meets Caroline. They marry, but when they adopt two children, their mission drops them. For 25 years they live in the U.S., serving in spite of illness and setback. They return to the Philippines to serve, but more illness interferes. When Communism falls in Eastern Europe, Tom returns to Czechoslovakia where he obtains citizenship, serves as a missionary and links up with his past.</p>

<p>Worth’s family is poor. His dad has skin cancer and drinks whiskey to deal with the pain. Scared of hell during revival, Worth joins the church at 12 but doesn’t know Christ. He drops out of school to work, then drops back in. But the Depression forces him to work. He falls in love with Dot, but gambling controls him after they marry. He mocks his sister’s faith. After his brother is killed in World War II, he becomes bitter at God. His sister reminds him that if he had been killed, he’d be in hell. He finally yields to God and eventually becomes an evangelist.</p>

<p>As the youngest child of four, Michelle endures a childhood of abandonment, cruelty and fear. Her mother attempts suicide; her sister is raped and Michelle lives with one person after another. At sixteen she gets pregnant and has an abortion. She keeps the second baby after her sister helps her, but she and her boyfriend don’t marry. The whole family uses drugs, but sister, Anna, gets saved and persuades the other two sisters to go to church. Michelle reads passages in the Bible, goes back to church and prays for salvation. When she gets pregnant again, she realizes she cannot marry her boyfriend who rejects Christ. Through Anna she meets and marries a believer.</p>

<p>Bob is born blind, and his mother dies in childbirth so his deaf but godly grandmother raises him to age 11. Then he goes to a school for the blind. He meets another blind boy and they play and sing country music together. They record a song that sells millions, and Bob goes to California where he squanders his money. He returns to Chicago, teams up with his friend and they do well. He meets Francis in a restaurant, they marry but he doesn’t change. When she becomes ill he prays for her. People invite him to revival then pray for Francis. When she’s well she goes to revival and is saved. He ultimately receives Christ, leaves his singing career and joins the staff at PGM.</p>

<p>His parents divorce when Chris is ten and his mother falls out with the church. At eleven his stepfather tells him he must work and leave home at 18. The mixed family is troublesome and his mother seeks God. She is saved while Chris works at a Burger King. There he meets Pat, a thrill-seeker who tries car surfing and falls. Chris does CPR but his friend dies. Chris is devastated, seeks counseling that doesn’t help his panic attacks. The first part ends when he prays for salvation with his mother’s pastor.</p>

<p>Bessie’s beauty is her god. As a youth she sings at a mission but then falls away as a teenager. She meets and marries Nick, a Mafia type who is killed after their marriage. Her behavior degenerates and she sickens of her life and goes to Chicago where her family has moved. Her mother takes her to church and Bessie goes to the altar and prays to receive Christ. In street ministry she meets Bill, an accordionist, and they marry. He joins the Navy after Pearl Harbor and is killed in action.</p>

<p>Dick Lane’s cruelty is as famous as his skill at blowing safes. A newsman tries to help Dick by offering him a job, but Dick refuses. He disdains rehabilitation and thwarts the efforts of other inmates to go straight. After he breaks the wrist of a Christian who offers friendship, Dick’s hard shell cracks along with his career. He goes to the newsman who gives him a job but he can’t escape the memories. He walks by Pacific Garden Mission, gets saved and begins helping other guys on the street. One of them robs and shoots him.</p>

<p>While making methamphetamine, Rodney is set on fire. A neighbor takes him to the hospital where he recovers. The pastor of the Christian rehab visits, and Rodney goes there when he’s released. He finishes the course, lives with his dad and has many opportunities to witness for Christ. He finishes college, writes a book and becomes pastor of a church. He counsels Jennifer, a former drug addict, and they marry. Now in ministry.</p>

<p>Barbara’s parents divorce when she’s an infant and she grows up afraid of her father. Her mother is strict but they go to church faithfully. Barbara confesses Christ at age 8, but she drifts into singing and acting, goes to college and does well until senior year when she has a nervous breakdown. Diagnosed as manic-depressive, she is in and out of the hospital for 15 years, wanders into parapsychology and fear. She runs away often. Finally, she cries out to God to save her and today, fifteen years later she is writing and recording Christian truth.</p>

<p>David and Norma marry after she finishes college. When he graduates from Bible college, they start a church near his family. His dad attends and professes faith. David gets his Master’s degree in theology and becomes department head at their old college. They witness to her family, but the brothers and dad resist. Norma develops Pulmonary Fibrosis, and David cares for her. Her brother, Harry, finally professes faith in Christ at 84 and dies just before Norma does. They keep the faith even through the ordeal of death.</p>

<p>His family’s cult religion doesn’t allow doctors, so David suffers ear infections as a child. Finally, he has surgery to remove tonsils and adenoids, then gets swimming water in his inner ear leaving him with Meniere’s Disease. He suffers ridicule for being off balance, isolates himself and does well in chemistry. In college he idolizes his professor who reduces him to tears. In graduate school he meets a Christian who leads him to Christ. David’s father professes faith in Christ before he dies of cancer. David follows Jeff to seminary but is rejected as a missionary. Now works as a consultant writing standardized tests.</p>

<p>While she’s a child, Sophie’s sister, mother and brother all die, leading to her fear of death. To placate God she goes to church and prays often as a teenager. She meets Nick but is afraid to marry him until he converts to her church. When their daughter is born, Sophie becomes even more fearful. Even when they go out with friends to party, the fears haunt her. She hears a radio preacher and prays for salvation, then talks with a neighbor who has been praying for her. At first Nick is upset with the change in her, but after several accidents, he professes faith, too. No longer afraid of death, Sophie witnesses in the hospital</p>

<p>Mike blames God for setbacks in his life. When his older brother beats a man to death, Mike covers for him and lies to the police. Thinking they’ve gotten away with it, Mike is engaged to Susan. Then he’s arrested. In county jail he’s outraged by a preacher, reads the Bible and is convicted of sin. He prays for salvation, expects to be exonerated but gets 21 years. Susan faithfully visits him. He grows in faith, gets a seminary degree and leaves prison after 16 years. He and Susan marry and he is now in prison ministry.</p>
