As a professional athlete, Dr. Kirsten “Coop” Cooper could not see herself as worth more than her achievements. When injuries forced her to end her athletic career, she struggled to know who she was or how to move forward. Finding belonging outside of sport as well as working with a therapist helped Coop understand her value and connect with who she is. Now she is working with athletes as a sport and performance postdoctoral fellow and her experiences are helping other athletes find their way.
