Often tragedy and trauma serve to fuel passion for efforts to change the world. This is the case for Brandon Siler, former NFL player and now entrepreneur. Brandon has experienced the loss of several friends and teammates to mental illness and now works to help support fellow NFLers in many ways, including getting them disability benefits through his company, Legacy Pro Sports and owning a mental health facility, Pure Recovery, that employs some of the most innovative interventions for recovery in the country. Brandon has a passion for improving student-athlete’s mental health and believes it needs to begin with building mental health literacy into the curriculum that every student-athlete must complete in their time in college. On this episode of Unit3d, Brandon shares his powerful story and his unique vision for the future of mental health education for student athletes.
