In the end, a vast new facility was built to try and get control of it, and treat all those who had ocntracted it. Many did not survive.   The hospital was called the Waverley Hills Sanatorium. In 1993, a group of rafters paddling through the Siberian wilderness of the Khamar Daban mountains came across a teenage girl, caked in mud and blood.
